Find someone to alter your dress rather than the store you bought it at. DB was going to charge me almost as much as my dress cost. I found a local lady who does it out of her house for less than $100. Shes done such a great job...even took the dumb wires out of the chest area and replaced it with a V.S. bra I purchased. She cut the bra so it would work with my backless dress and it fits like a glove now.

They can offer things for you that a normal store would waste the time doing.

Think about what you are including. I know everyone wants their dream wedding but sometimes reality gets in the way.
Do you really need those out of season flowers for your centrepieces?
Think about your menu choices- sometimes the cheaper options can be just as nice or nicer
A lot of those extra things we think we need are often the things we wont even remember in 1 or 10 years time.

Also sometimes trying the new guys works. A few brides have used new vendors and had wonderful results and saved $$ in the process.

Use DJ Godzilla, way cheap, $65 for just the ceremony only, $200 for 4 hours of the reception, or $265 for both.  Plus tip of course.

Edit - This is only if you need a DJ, if you don't need one, don't get one.  We need one for the ceremony-as I won't ask a guest to handle the music.  But we'll be using the IPOD for the reception-no DJ.

    Not having a wedding party
Buying our own booze for the wedding
    No DJ
I agree with Junebug- not using a dress store to alter the dress
Making my own labels for our water bottles (a little bit of a waste of money anyway but I like personalized stuff)
    No favors
DIY guestbook squares (will scrapbbok later) this cost me like $3
    No children

I found my BM's dress at Banana Republic for 50% off.  And my BM is wearing her own jewelry and shoes, since they go with my theme.

Use an ipod instead of a DJ.

Find a creative friend who can design your paper items if you're not crafty.

Buy accessories/shoes on etsy, ebay, or Target instead of at a bridal shop.
