don't know if it was a typo but it's ''y'' acompanante (with the squiggly on the first n)
     ''e'' is in italian.

cynthia.. it is e invitado.. the reason why it is not 'y invitado' is because in spanish you  don't have the same sound of letter when saying 'and' or 'or'. For example you do not say o otro.. its u otro. =)

anjellyca... i think y acompa~ante sounds a bit better... thats just me though

    I used " e invitado" also.

The other posters are right, that correct grammar dictates an "e" be used before certain vowel sounds in Spanish.

It's also true that Italian uses "e" to mean "and" as well, but I believe they also have a special sound for vowel-beginning words. I believe it was "ud" but it has been many years since I've spoken Italian. Anyways.....off the topic...

I was talking about ''e'' acompanante.  This case it's a y not an e. I know the rule Smile  it's an ''e'' in front of' ''i'' sounds and ''u'' in front of ''o'' sounds, it's however not considered wrong to still put ''y'' or ''o''.  Matter of pronunciation.  In Italian, there is only ''e''. ''ud'' is latin! God I hate grammar!
