  I'm going to play devil's advocate here. 
  
  OP I know that you have been on unemployment for a long time too.  Are you saying that you are taking 8 hours a day and actively looking for work?  Or is it maybe closer to 1, maybe 2 hours a day?  3?  "Looking" and "busting ass" means a lot of different things to a lot of differnet people.  Busing ass, to me, should mean - at a minimum - you apply for one job, per day. 
  
  My impression of you is that you are somewhat abusing the system as well.

  I'm not Nugget but how did you come to this conclusion? How does what she said even compare to the other person?

  In a bunch of lines of work, there aren't new jobs popping up daily.  My FI hates his job, so we're looking for other options for him (and the search is countrywide - yeah, sucks for me), and there aren't always new jobs, so applying for a job daily just wouldn't be possible.

  Uh, it doesn't say that you have to be looking for 8 hours a day.  It says you have to be actively looking for a job.  I have been actively looking for a job.  I check the job boards daily, I network, I make calls, I check the newspapers and those circulars from the grocery store, I have even driven around the area to see if there were any help wanted signs. I apply for, on average, 10 jobs a week.  But thanks for being such a nasty b*tch.  Props to you.
