Happy Wednesday (And day before Turkey Day!)

Good morning all! Who else has to work today? I'm hoping to get out early, then I've got a hair appointment, and we leave tomorrow for MD. Lucas has to take one of the dogs to the pet resort where he's staying while we're gone. I hope it doesn't traumatize him too much. We visited and it seems like a really great place for animals.

What's everyone thankful for this holiday season?

I'm thankful for my loving family and friends. I don't know where I would be without all of them.

Re: Happy Wednesday (And day before Turkey Day!)

  • I have to work today. :( Boo. BUT it's my last day at this job - so that's cool! Finishing up training for the poor girl who's taking over for me, and then I'm OUTTA THERE!

This should be a good weekend. I'm excited about Thanksgiving. I'm hitting the Black Friday sales (we need a new computer badly and Wal-Mart has a good one), so I'm excited about new computer... and we should be getting our wedding photos back. I'm PRAYING she calls me today. So this weekend ought to ROCK. :)
  • Yay for ending a crappy job! Yay for a new computer! and Yay for photos! I'm heading in to work and hoping that there'll be more than just my post and yours in this thread when I get there. Laughing

  • Good Morning.  I'm at work.  They're putting up Christmas decorations this morning so that made me really happy!  :)

I'm glad you're finally done with that job AK.  No more stalker!!!  YAY!!!

Have a safe trip to MD mkr.  I'll be leaving for Illinois in the morning and I can't wait.
  • Good morning! I'll be going to work today, but I'll be working my ass off since I haven't been there in awhile, and I don't plan on going back the rest of the week! I can handle a one day week.

I am thankful for way too many things to count. To name a few: a husband who is freaking awesome, the best family and friends a girl could ask for, my cats -- Howie and Lyla, my nephews and niece, my health, a job I love, snowblowers, and the firing of Brad Childress.

  • Haha so yeah, I am thankful for all the things I'm all excited about today. :)

I'm heading in to work now... my plan for part of the day is to let New Girl do her thing while I tool around on a computer in the back, and just tell her to let me know if she has any questions. So I'll swing through here if I get a chance to do that. :) Have a good morning, everyone!
  • You have a safe trip too Stacks. I believe you mentioned before something about 16 hours? Luckily our drive is only 3.

Man Fische, I wish I could have pulled off a one day work week it's been soooo dead around here.

  • 16 hours round trip.......not all at once.  :)
  • Happy Thanksgiving Eve!  I'm not working today, but I'm up.  Stupid body, won't ever let me sleep in.  I have a lot to do today anyway, so I didn't want to waste it by being lazy.

Hope everyone that's traveling has a safe trip!

  • Oh, well that sounds a little better Stacks. I could handle that. I used to drive 12 hours in one shot from Charleston to Cleveland when I was in college, long road trips wear me out now.

  • Morning! I'll be here all day, but my boss is not! Score!

Have a safe trip everyone. I'll be going home after work and staying there.

  • Good morning, folks! Jerk boss is walking around telling people that he's getting us out of here as early as possible today. And he let us wear jeans. So for today, and only today, he is just "boss". No jerk. Unless I'm still here at 3:00, then he reverts to Jerk Boss title. Got that?

  • Manda.....how exciting to just have a "boss" today.  Apparently he's worried about Santa and the whole coal thing.
  • Hi!  Working until 2 PM, and have a ton of stuff that needs to be done before that.  But so excited!  And we're wearing jeans today too, Manda.  Love jean days.

Stuff I'm thankful for: my husband, my family, the fact that my sister has been seizure-free for almost four months *fingers crossed*, my wonderful in-laws, the fact that the car is still running decently, and that we've hopefully found a good apartment for when our lease is up (we're checking it out next week).  And of course, our pets.

  • Yay for having just a "boss" today Manda.

My boss as well as two or three coworkers won't be here today. I actually brought my colored pencils and crayons so that those of us that are here can make hand tukeys!

One thanksgiving a few years ago I was working as a banquet captain at a resort and everyone had to work on Thanksgiving. They do this huge thanksgiving buffet, so no one was allowed off. So me and another captain got together the day before and made everyone their own hand turkey. We personalized them for each person. For example, one of the servers was a huge cowboys fan, so his was dressed in a jersey and helmet. It was fun and made everyone feel a little better about having to work all day.

  • Happy Wednesday-Thanksgiving-Eve!

Some asshole was NOT in the holiday spirit and scratched the crap out of my car last night because they parked over the line.  I did take a picture of their license plate, but really...I don't know what I can do with that, haha.  I wish I knew a cop or something.  So that'll be a trip to Pep Boys to try to find some scratch remover.  Anyone have any good recs?

I'm hoping we'll get out early today, but I'm not holding my breath for anything earlier than 3:30.  I have to make the pretzel salad when I get home, do some laundry and H's best friend (he's also one of my really good friends) is coming over tonight to lament about his latest girl problems.  It's going to be a long night.

  • Holy crap TR! This just confirms my hate for people. I think if you call your insurance company and give them the license plate number they should be able to figure out what to do with it. That's if the damage is bad enough to warrant calling. If you can just get the scratches out yourself then I wouldn't worry about it.

  • krupar! hand turkeys!! I love it.

TR- that sucks about your car, I'm sorry! I hope you at least get out a little early today so you get some turkey-day-eve cheer. :-)

I forgot to state my thankfulnesses! I'm thankful this year for my amazing husband, my incomparably amazing friends (I'm lookin' at you, Eeners) and that both of my cats were given clean bills of health at the vet this year, despite the fact that neither of them is getting any younger.
  • TR- This may be a stupid question, but pretzel salad?  I'm intrigued.

  • Fezz:

Pretzel crust, cream cheese & cool whip layer and then strawberry jello with strawberries top layer.  It's yummy :)

Yeah, I'm going to see if H can do something with it at lunch, either take it to the dealer or get some scratch remover or something.  I just feel like if I was going to call my insurance company I'd have to do it today because of the holiday weekend and I don't know if I have time to handle all of that today.

  • I can PM you the recipe if you want it.  I've never actually made it, but it looks pretty easy and I'm attempting it tonight.

  • Mmmmm one of the girls at work made pretzel salad for our holiday party last year. I'm crossing my fingers she'll make it again this year.

Manda - I love the hand turkey! Maybe I'll post a pick of mine when it's done.

  • I'm at home sick. I'm actually not feeling too bad today, but I still have some stomach pain and I've lost 5 pounds in the past week (Yay for Weight Watchers!) so I decided to just take another day before the holiday. No one was going to be in my office anyways.

So I found this interesting tid bit of info this morning. Baby Leah from Teen Mom (Amber and Gary's baby) was made a ward of the state yesterday: http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2010/11/exclusive-teen-mom-amber-portwoods-baby-now-a-ward-state
  • That would be great, TR!  Thanks :)

  • I just got home from work.  Going to bed  as soon as I post this, but I will probably be back this afternoon after a few hours (or 6) of sleep.

I am thankful for my health, my hubby who loves me, that my puppy dog has let me sleep during the day without being a PITA this week, and... that I don't have to go back to work until 3:00 on Monday afternoon :)  YAY!!
  • Aw about Baby Leah. She's my favorite Teen Mom baby. I wonder if I can adopt her?

I wanna make a hand turkey!! But I don't have a scanner close by.

I'm working until probably about 2:30. We'll probably get official word that we can leave then. I'm off Friday. I'm undecided on shopping.

I'm thankful for my husband who makes me laugh even when I'm mad at him; my parents, who are the best parents ever; for my MIL, who really is a great MIL; for my kids, who make my life whole; and for all my friends, who will never really know just how important they really are to me. AND sweet potato casserole (with brown sugar and pecans, NOT marshmallows) and dressing. And the show Raising Hope.
  • Hi all! I am working today...and the rest of this week, obivously. It's going to be slow without you all here to entertain me tomorrow and the next day. Maybe Snippy, aMrs, the Canadians and I can form an alliance.

Oh, except Friday is office Olympics day. I keep forgetting and then remembering, so it keeps being a nice surprise.

Birdie, hope you feel better. TR, hope your car feels better. AK, congrats on your last day!

And I'm thankful for a lot too (not just office Olympics). For my husband and dog, for my dad, for having made good friends here in Chile and for having friendships strong enough to survive the distance between the US and here. For my job, which even if it's not my passion - and I don't know what that is yet - is a place where I learn and hang out with people I like. Yeah, I've got a pretty good life :)
