I was just going through all of these, including the older ones because this is the first I have heard of them. I don't know if this one was addressed in any of the other posts but the one that really scares me is the one about running away with her ex that beat her and left her for dead. I REALLY hope he never comes to her wanting to be with her!

She actually did argue against women voting because, according to her, women voted based on who is more attractive rather than actual issues.

Honest to god.

Seriously? Did she think lesbians would vote based on looks too? Or did lesbians not exist in her pre-suffrage world?
image
• I recall that, moose. I knew there was somone who argued against women voting, but I couldn't remember who. She also did EVERYTHING for her H, didn't she? Like a 1950's housewife?
• She was also the camo wedding.

I remember arguing with her and I can't remember all the details because I eventually blocked her for stupid.

I sorta think any woman who makes a "Women are stupid" argument probably thinks lesbians haven't met the right man yet or are protesting their lifestyle.

I wonder if she really knew what "suffrage" meant.

Maybe she meant it like "suffering" but added the -age like Keanu Reeves would back in the day ("Duuude I need me some food-age!").

She's against women suffering.. me too, girlfriend!

ETA: OWN! YES!
• Really what got my vote that election was my main man joey b. he is so far better looking than sarah palin.
In Response to Re: NEW SECRETS POSTED : I'd rather win the lottery and be able to do all those things, but.... I'm sure there are lots of downsides to prison. Especially after you get out. But my mother used to tell me, "There are people in this world who don't mind going to prison because at least they know where their next meal is coming from." I'm really not sure what her point was.
Posted by msmerymac
She might have meant that they don't have any other options.  There's a charitable organization in my town that helps inmates released from prison get food, jobs, and housing.  Most of them leave prison with nothing but the clothes on their backs.  It's hard to get a job or a lease when you're a convicted felon.  This organization puts a roof over their heads, gives them work (they do yardwork and fundraisers to help get money to keep the charity going), and helps them apply for jobs.  Average time to land a job is 6-12 months.  Average stay at their housing is 2 years.  Just think of how hard it would be to get housing and a job when you don't have an organization like that helping you.

• I think my mom meant that some of the kids in my 8th grade class (WTF) would eventually drop out of school or be expelled and never have a job prospect other than a life of crime. Which is a great thing to say about a 13-year-old. My mom is really judgemental. But that's a great organization, Heels!

And maybe she meant feminism rather than suffrage? I can see how feminists, especially of the second-wave variety, can seem extreme in some ways if you don't take time to understand it. I'd be far more willing to let that slide than suffrage.

• I'm sure this has been done before, but the radio show I listen to sent a guy out in the streets of Uptown Charlotte to get people to sign a petition to end women's suffrage.  And people signed it because I guess they thought suffrage=suffering?    Anyway, he interviewed people and asked them to tell why they were against women's suffrage, and if you listened to it pretending they did know what suffrage means, it was hilarious.
