Hi, I'm recenty engaged and sooo glad I found this site. You guys are so awesome and informative. I'm trying to decide between 2 venues. Reflections in Plano or The Hilton Park Cities hotel. What are your thoughts?

Thanks

  • One of our Knotties just had her wedding at Reflections (Angelsong) so I'm sure she'll chime in.  As a hotel bride myself, I really loved having a hotel wedding so I'm probably biased! :)
  • Thanks Stephiehall

I love the thought of a hotel wedding due to them not kicking you out at a certain time and also my out of town guest(who is not used to the big city) does not have to worry about anything. With refections, I will only have 4 hrs total for wedding, pics and reception. Hmm I think I just made my choice :)

  • Love the ceremony space that they have for the Hilton Park Cities... but was a little disappointed with the reception space. It was rather too dark and dim for my liking. But the hotel itself is beautiful!

    Congrats and welcome!
  • Did you ask about the food and beverage minimums?  Because they can be high.

Reflections is pretty too though.  My MIL actually got their pricing for us when we got engaged and I liked that they had an outdoor option.  We ended up picking the hotel that we went to for drinks on our first date and that was pretty special to us.
  •  YES. Since I'm having my wedding on a Sunday, there is NO F&B minimum. I couldnt believe it. My wedding will be kind of small with about 120 guest so that works out great for me. Dinner is about 35PP. Saturday minimum's are $15000.  In Response to <a href="http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/local-wedding-boards_texas-dallas-ft-worth_hi-im-a-newbie-plus-venue?plckFindPostKey=Cat:Local Wedding BoardsForum:102Discussion:23dfb40e-d103-436d-a284-41b26c3f4400Post:7980d93d-7e09-4cc3-a0e0-b1f7f6e73b62">Re: HI I'm A Newbie plus Venue ???</a>:

  • Oh wow, that IS great!  I know Angelsong had her wedding on a  Friday so that it would be cheaper -- she will be better able to give you a price comparison if you're interested.

    I'm here!

OP, yes, I got married at Reflections in May and I HIGHLY recommend them.  We mostly worked with Jason, who is the head chef but also does a lot of customer service for the venue.  For a Friday evening, it was $1295 to book the entire facility for 4 hours (outdoor area, indoor ceremony space, and indoor reception space).  The food and beverage minimum was $3900.  I *think* for a Saturday night it was $5500.  Remember that places are going to quote you the base price that does not include the 20% typical gratuity and taxes.  Our grand total for the facility rental, food, and beverage was $7100.

Also included in that price are all the servers, bartender, cake-cutting, set-up, tear down, table linens, all plates/glasses, etc.  All-inclusive.

The price also include a day-of coordinator.  We asked for Kim and she was just awesome to work with.  She took care of every little thing at our rehearsal and on the day-of.  She even helped out a great deal with the little ones and got them refills on their drinks and second helping so that the parents could sit and enjoy their meals.

Since it was a more budget-friendly venue, I was concerned it wouldnt be as "impressive" as some of the other venues I've seen.  However, I can tell you that we have received so much feedback (both in person at the wedding and via our parents getting feedback from their friends who attended) that people were incredibly impressed with how beautiful and welcoming the facility was, the great customer service, etc.

Also, one HUGE pro for Reflections is that Chef Jason can literally make anything you want for your dinner.  You have a favorite dish at 3 Forks?  He can duplicate it.  You want a more ethnic menu?  Not a problem at all.  Anything you can think of, he can pretty much make it happen.  The food was AMAZING (and we are big foodies so I don't take that lightly) and we got the exact meal we wanted.  We would have never gotten that from a hotel or using a catering service, most likely.

If you have any other questions, please shoot me a PM (Just make sure to page me on here so I know I've got a PM in my inbox)! :)
