Help! Bra Fitting....

Good Morning ladies!!

I need some advise as were to go to get fitted for a bra.  I have never been fitted before.  I know the size that I wear but I need help being fitted properly for a good strapless bra.  I am a plus sized lady.  I live in the Denton area.  Any help??

Thanks!

  • Have you tried Nordstrom? I've had good luck there. I would think any large department store or lingerie shop should be able to help you out though.

  • I haven't tried there.  I was hoping to get some ideas as where to go & narrow it down from there.

Thank you for the suggestion!!  Keep them coming please!!

    Thanks!

  • Any specialty/lingerie store should be able to help you get fitted--Victoria's Secret, Lane Bryant, or a department store (Nordstrom is a great suggestion). Before I was formally measured, I wore the wrong size for years and it changes so much in terms of support and posture you wouldn't believe!

My suggestion would definitely be {Intimacy} Bra Fit Specialists.  It's a store at Northpark that specializes in bra fittings.  I went to the one in NYC before it opened in Dallas, and LOVED it.

The bras are definitely more expensive, but the shelf life is long if you take care of them properly.
  • Lane Bryant might be an option. One of my associates used to work there and she said she used to do a ton if bra fittings.

  • Ditto this place. I got fitted, bought one expensive bra and then bought more online at cheaper places in the same size.

    Good luck!

  • I used to work at Victoria's Secret- if you have a measuring tape, measure under your bust (in inches), then measure the fullest part of your bust. Subtract the 1st # from the 2nd #, and that gives you the cup size. Example- if yor underbust is 36, and the fullest part of your bust measures 40, you'd subtract: 40-36 = 4, 4=D cup, so you'd be a 36D. But I think just about anyplace that sells bras offeres free bra fittings (so in Denton, I'd try VS, or Lane Bryant, both stores on on Loop 288). Also, another thing to keep in mind- your "sister size" is one cup up and size down in ribcage measure, or one cup down and size up in ribcage measure. Example- if you're a 36D, your sister sizes would be 34DD or 38C, so if you try on "your size" and it's not quite right, the sister sizes should be about the same fit, just a little different. Also, bra extenders are very inexpensive option for expanding the ribcage part of the bra (under $10 I'd say. I hope this helps!
  •  I got my fitting at Victoria's Secret and the woman there was amazing. I have been stuffing myself into a 36A since high school, but apparently I am in a 36c. I've been suffocating the girls!  Anyway, TMI.
  • JC Penney also has bra fit specialists.  At least they did when I was in high school, because my BFF was one.

  • I went to Nordstroms to be fitted for my strapless bra.  They were great, and they brought me one very expensive bra and another one that was much more affordable to try on.
