Re: Evening Thread

  • Hey guys. I'm hanging out for a bit before bed. My pups have finally retired after constant wrestling for 3 hours straight. Just watching them makes me tired.

  • I have issues with any organized religion that is anti-psychiatry.  H will not pay to watch Tom Cruise movies.
  • Mica - They are always at the Strawberry Festival. They ask you about having a free stress test and then they try to trick you in.

Also, they sent DVDs disguised as counseling tools to our schools.

  • While pregnant? WHAT A DOUCHE. Well Nicole Kidman totally won out in the "who gets the better man" battle. Keith Urban is smokin'.

  • I love watching dogs wrestle around. It's so fun.

[QUOTE]Backpedalling to The Bachelorette for a minute.  My mom told me when I was home a few weeks back that they were doing auditions for a future season of the show in Pittsburgh this summer.  I told her "don't even think about it."  I don't remember exactly what she said to that, but I almost think she half considered signing me up.

I have no idea, and didn't ask any questions in fear that she might actually do something.  I get that she wants more grandchildren, but she needs to talk to the daughters who actually have rings on their fingers.

  • I can usually even get H to watch Top Gun with me when I put it in the DVD player.  The last time I watched it (a few months ago now) it was on like VH1 with the pop up trivia on the bottom of the screen.  I loved it.
  • I mean no disrespect to anyone, but while I don't pretend to understand scientologists, I don't see the difference in how cray cray some of the stuff they do vs other ideas and rituals of other religions.

  • I'm at my nightly shift with future stepson.  And I'm kinda pissy. After FI and I went to dinner last night I put my leftovers (chicken, bacon, and jack cheese quesadilla) in his fridge so I could have them tonight. I was looking forward to them.  His dad was over here working on some stuff and ATE MY FREAKING LEFTOVERS.  I mean, he left me like two bites in the container and put it back in the fridge.

My grandmother did that once (probably about 7 or 8 years ago).  She told me "you know, there are girls who have babies before husbands."  When I asked me if she really wanted me to take that route she told me no.  I told her she needed to look at the granddaughter with the ring on her finger (my sister who had been married a few years at the time).

  • I'm an only child. My mother hates my DH and wants me to leave him and have children.

Yes mom, I'll leave a stable, happy 5 year relationship because you don't like him so I can (possibly) have children alone. She's wierd.

I love my parents, but they're views are certainly different from mine on most things. I wish things were different.

<div>Yeah, that's kind of what my MIL has said to H. His oldest brother is severely mentally handicapped (ie, can't function on his own) so obviously won't be having children. Second oldest brother is a hard core druggie and no one expects much out of him, as he has shown absolutely no interest in improving his life. Sister is having trouble conceiving and we dont' think she'd ever go for adoption. And other brother is so shy that he can't even look at the waitor/waitress when ordering his food at a resturant, so we don't see him meeting someone and having kids. It could happen, but realistically we dont' think so. So H and I are the only ones left. </div><div>
    </div><div>No pressure. </div>

This was a big joke in my family for a long time. My mom would ask all the time "are there any boyfriends I should know about?" and it was mostly around Christmas. She liked buying presents for a boy. And I was never serious with anyone for many years.

Soon, my grandma, quite the funny woman, started asking for great grandchildren and wondering about "the wedding." This was mostly because it bothered me, and would send me on a rant. Luckily, before she passed away, Elliot and I let her in on our engagement (before we were public). Women are so strange.

Sadly, mine never got to see her one and only (my nephew).  I used to call her sister's great grandchild her makeshift one.  It worked for her.
