I have no one to walk me down the aisle.

So I recently found out that I didn't have anyone to walk me down the aisle my dad is in jail and he may not be out by April and we're not all that close anyways and my grand dad who lives in columus feels he's too old to travel its a real bummer but it's life but I just dont know what to do. I have no men in my family im close too either. I thought about maybe walking down with me dog lol but Idk. I could just walk half way by myself and have my groom walk me the rest I really dont know any suggestions???

Have your mom walk you! Or a grandma! I had my brother walk me.

You could walk down together with your groom -- this is common in Catholic weddings in particular. It symbolizes you are both coming there as part of your own free will.

Is your mom available?  Any siblings?  Uncles? Aunts?  Or there is always solo, which could be cute.

No law says it has to be a MAN, it's just the tradition.

That really does suck about your dad and grandpa...

My dad passed away over 15 years ago and I have no grandpa's or uncle's.  I debated having my brother or mom give me away, but have decided to just walk by myself......

I would just walk by yourself!  If you don't have anyone that special to you and that is also able to walk you down the aisle, oh well!  It seems silly to have someone walk you down the aisle just for the sake of filling a position.

On the bright side, you don't have to worry about anyone stepping on your dress/veil while you walk down the aisle!  :)

I agree with everyone else, there is no rule for this!  I think if my dad and I weren't close and it didn't mean so much to him I would have just walked down with my then fiance.  He's the one I chose to be my support for life, so he's the one I would have wanted to take that scary walk with me (for me the trip down the aisle was the most nerve wracking part of the whole thing!!)

I like the idea of walking down by yourself and having your groom meet you halfway and walk the rest of the aisle together. I think it's a beautiful idea. If I had no one to walk me down the aisle, this is what I would do.

I agree with abi and rak as well.

I'm so sorry, though, to hear about your dad and your grandpa.  I lost both my dad and my step-dad to cancer within the year and a half before my wedding...so I know what your going through. Even though it's not necessary for it to be a man who escorts you, I still wanted that traditional aspect...and I had a hard time with the fact that neither of my dads would be there. It was an emotional realization for me.  I almost walked myself down the aisle as well.

I got lucky that my step-brother, who was really the only other male I had ever been close to was able to make it from Wisconsin, and he walked with me.  I had people mention having my mom...but she has really bad knees and I would have basically been escorting her!

Whatever you decide...make it something you're comfortable with, but I love the idea of your fiance meeting you half-way.  I think it would be a very dramatic, lovely entrance.

No rules about walking down the aisle. My Dad and I are great now, but we had some  years in my 20s where we didn't see eye to eye... AND just like me, he doesn't like to be center of attention! I had a close male friend who was on the guys side for our wedding. If my dad wasn't comfortable with walking me down the aisle, I was going to ask my friend to do it!

I thought about having my Mom do it but I think I would have been an emotional wreck (we are very close).

Friend, brother, grandfather, neighbor!! No rules about it... Or if you are comfortable enough (which I was), walk down and meet your future husband by yourself.... Have him meet you half way down the aisle... Or like PP walk in together!!! After all, this is what it's all about... The two of you!!

I'm in a similar position. I'm twenty-one and my dad just passed very suddenly in October. We just got engaged this week, and this has been a question haunting me in the back of my mind. I've considered my older brother, or my dad's little brother (my uncle) but I might just do my thing and walk down myself. I think I'm leaning more towards walking down by myself.

Ive decided to just walk by my self since no one can replace my dad and I really wouldn't just want to have some one fil the spot since it should be special.
