Irritations??

Anyone have irritations today??

I went to the grocery store before work this morning to get fruit and lunch for today. The checkout, where I swipe my card and put in my pin, asked if I wanted to donate to breast cancer. I donate every Sunday when I buy the big grocery list so I pressed no. Then the cashier asked if I wanted to donate. I know it already came up no on her screen. Then I felt like an ahole when I said no. I don't like to be bullied into donating things. Not that she was bullying me but I already said no, don't make me feel bad, you know? Ugh.

Also, people who use self checkout and don't know how to use self checkout and it ends up being longer than any other long lane in the store. Come on.

Anyone else?

When someone waits until the very last moment to cancel a meeting/class/whatever. I get that sometimes you don't know til the last minute, but when it's now happened 4 times in a row? That's just poor management skills on your part. Can you please try to remember that our time is valuable and showing up for something just to find out it's cancelled is annoying and keeping me from getting the most out of my clinical education. PS: Hike, thanks for starting this today! And I completely agree with you, it's rude try to guilt you into donating for a cause.

One irritation that sticks out in my head at the moment, because of this weekend, is when people have poor horsemanship. It really aggrivates me, when I was training to ride that was the one single thing that would determine if we could ride, show, etc so when people don't take it seriously it aggrivates me.

    I hate bad drivers.

It took my 2 hours… 2 freakin hours to get to work this morning. All because a semi going too fast hit the barricade and spilled his load of gravel. If you are driving a semi… slow DOWN! You don’t need to be going 70 mph…

And then everyone has to stop and looook and they don’t realize that it is slowing everyone down. I went 2 miles… 2 miles in an hour. So fine, we get past that accident and what happens? ANOTHER FREAKIN ACCIDENT 10 miles away…. In the construction zone.

Really just fcuked up my morning.

This is prob flameworthy, but I stand by this opinion.

It bugs me something fierce that they push Breast Cancer so much. I hate cancer more than anything/anyone else, but I hate that they rank which cancer is worse. Umm pretty sure all effing cancer sucks so lets work together to fight cancer as a whole.

Before I end this mini rant, I understand and know the Breast Cancer stats. I just find it very irritating when certain groups get all this attention. and I fully admit my dad dying from Colon Cancer as formed this opinion. I also don't mean this to be a personal attack on someone fighting this nasty disease.

@DNBEACH: my mom lives in a nice neighborhood and we get people knocking on our door every day asking us to buy something or donate something. AT HOME and usually right before or during dinner, no joke. Mega annoying! H and I make a list of charities we donate too and make sure at the same time every year we send them our check. We do it personally/private so it bugs me when people try to quilt ppl to donating. It's tacky IMO.

I never donate at those things. I donate a lot, when you consider percentage of my income, and I'm a big supporter of charity events and fundraisers. I like to know a bit more about the charity than just what it supports - I like to do my research and know what overhead costs they have and what they allot the donations to actually do. I support Leukemia Lymphoma Society, American Cancer Society, Dana Farber Institute, Ronald McDonald House, Make a Wish, American Austism Society, and a few others. Just never at a check out counter.

My irritation is the same as always - my boss is a moron. Yesterday, we had a phone conference with the President in Italy and one of the other senior partners who is in Italy. They asked my boss how he was doing on meeting his "5 meetings per week" goal they had set for him. He said, "Well, I only have one this week, but it's with this great guy who used to be a senior partner at (insert big company name), etc. etc." and leave it to our Israeli partner to cut through the BS: "You say he used to work for them, who does he work for now?" Boss: "Oh, he's unemployed." I could practically see the steam rising out of the Israeli partner's ears, "That's it?! That's all you have for meetings?! How can he bring us any business when he doesn't even have a job?!"

And then the Italian suggested that going to a networking event each week could count towards one of the required meetings because "a networking event can be more productive than a meeting; it can be even more productive than 5 meetings sometimes!" My boss took that to mean a networking event can replace his 5 meetings. So now he's trying to get me to go to some networking event tomorrow night (there's no freaking point in both of us attending an event that will only have 10-20 people; that's overkill and will look desperate) and he says, "That way if we both meet 5 people, we'll have fulfilled two weeks worth of meetings!" Uh... no. That's not how this works.

I am getting married in 11 days and the irritations just keep coming. A friend of mine called me last night and asked what she should wear to my wedding. I told her that I would help her, but part of me hopes that she can figure this out herself as this is one thing I didn't put on my 'To Do' list.

Oh and then someone else called me to ask how to get to the venue when I posted three (one set from each direction) sets of directions and the address of the venue on our website. Not to mention that they were looking at the website at the time they were talking to me. Really people?!?! I have to be your personal assistant?

I am sure this will calm down once the wedding is over. Usually these things don't bother me, but right now I am scrambling to finish things up at work before I go on leave. Also, the few things I have on my list to finish up for the wedding and prepare for family coming in from out of town are contributing to my stress level at the moment.

Agreed that Shan's isn't flameworthy. I hate those donation things too, Hike. They are obnoxious and a total guilter. I donate in my own way but JUST because I don't want to donate to Home Depot's blah blah blah I look like a selfish college kid. Thanks guys. Way to make me feel like an a$$hole.

Hike- I'm irritated with self checkouts. Lol. I refuse to use them. I feel like they are ultimately a way to take away jobs, and therefore am not pro robot that may and may not work. I hate those things.

This irritates (or upsets) me at the moment.

Car pool people!!! Ok so I do not have any children as of yet however, I have to pass a school every morning and it never fails that someone in a giant mini van is blocking the road to turn left into the school parking lot. So I am stuck (along with everyone else) at the light while she/he trys to cram that giant van in the small drive way with 50 other cars instead of waiting through the next light. ARG! This makes me have to wait through another light becuase I cannot go around her/him.

Does the fact that people did that to animals piss you off, or the rampant social media-fed rumors that stir everyone into a frenzy piss you off? I hate both, to be honest.

The one that drove me nuts last week was the "Post this as your status and Make a Wish will donate $7 to some girl's medical cost". Uh, no. I told each of those people that it was great to get the word out about Make a Wish, but that just posting the status would make no advancements in fundraising. That the best thing to do would be to donate the $7 themselves. Wanna know how many of them did it? None.

People who "campaign" about something by posting FB statuses, be it about cancer awareness or something, annoy me. People are aware of cancer, that post does really nothing except make someone look like an AW.

As far as the whole.. self checkout deal.

I used to work as a casher in a small time grocery store, so I appreciate a good cashier...I loved it when people would talk to me so I try and be social when I go through the check out.

On the other hand, because I was a cashier for most of my high school / beginning of college, I am very picky on how items get bagged so sometimes I would rather just do it myself. I don't enjoy smushed bread or broken eggs.

I'm irritated that we don't have FI's car back yet. With him not having a set day schedule, it makes it a little difficult for me to job hunt, especially when I have an interview 45 mins away. Everything in Pcola is really spread out, so while it takes just under an hour to get to another city entirely, it takes almost as long, depending on traffic, just to get from where we are to the mall. We're supposed to get it back this weekend, which is good. But going to get the car is turning a 4-ish hour trip back from a wedding into a 6-7 hour drive. Argh, but it's worth it.

And, yeah, I always beel like a heel when I don't donate at those things (especially the PetSmart one), but I've always done my donations on my own, now FI and I do them.

    - Hike do you shop at Safeway? We have the same things on our checkouts and it drives me insane. I actually prefer the "would you like to round up to next even dollar amount to donate to X," because I love an even number to put into Quicken. But I hate that I have to feel pressure to donate on that machine everytime as well. One day I had to go to Safeway 3 times in a matter of an hour (disorganization on my part that day due to scatterbrain of H leaving the next day). So basically I was asked 6 times if I want to donate. Get of my shitt people!

    - My irrational irriatation, which might also be flame worthy, is that it drives me up a wall when people are having a fluent conversation in another language in front of me. Yesterday I was looking at dresses with a friend in a store, and there were 3 people at the end of the rack of my size, just standing there for over 10 minutes blocking the way and having a full conversation in another language. It was annoying me a lot because they were blocking my way and didn't care, but it also makes me ridiculously irriitated that they were fully speaking in another language.

    - I like self-checkouts when I only have 1 or 2 things and the other lines are too long. The other night I was grabbing ice cream on my way to my friends house, and they only had 2 regular checkouts open that were super long. I used self-checkout because I knew it was quick, and I didn't want my ice cream to melt!

I am so irritated by this co worker of mine who is constantly bringing her home drama into work. She's in her office as I write, yelling and screaming at her ex husband about custody. Handle your shiit at home woman! Yesterday, it was debt collectors. She was crying and screamingggg at them, and then afterwards to her mom on the phone. Like, come on lady, Wouldn't you like to keep all this info about your life private from your co workers so that we don't continue to judge you more than everyone already does? (She's filthy, has the worst work ethic, and has a crazy bi-polar like personality that drives us all nuts.) It's scary to know that she's a social worker :/

I don't have a problem with people speaking another language as long as all participants in the conversation are speaking the same language. Meaning no side conversations, like the nail ladies who speak to their clients in English and gossip in Vietnamese. It just makes others uncomfortable.

I do find it kind of cool to watch people converse in languages I don't understand. But yeah, not in a service environment where you're speaking with clients in one language and not when everyone shares a mutual language but they are choosing to use another. It's RUDE!

Sometimes I'll break into Spanish or Chinese, depending on the situation, if I feel it will make the person I'm speaking to more comfortable. FI doesn't mind at all. However, I always make a point to translate back to the mutual language for those who don't speak it. I hate it when people who speak perfectly good English will refuse to speak to us in English but rather switch to Spanish because they know I speak it - it's rude to FI and completely excludes him from the conversation. Our neighbors do this all the time!

So I'm now fing irratated that my boss didn't forward my timesheet into payroll and now I have no flipping money. This wasn't the weekend I needed this to happen. I'm seriously livid. Our dog gets spayed tomorrow and I'm supposed to pay for that, not to mention I have money I need to transfer to FI for 'rent/mortgage' (i contribute towards it - I don't like the idea of not paying my share). We had an emergancy pop up over the weekend that required all of my emergency funds. Not to mention I had to put down a deposit and my freaking mother still owes me well over a grand for deposits. Not that I'm not grateful but.. come on. I'm not rich I don't work completely full time. I'm hourly. And now this... UGH! When it rains it pours!

I'm currently irritated by FI's lacking ability to have a serious conversation.

Last night he started talking about finances and the plans for paying off the house, etc. The conversation started off really well and I was agreeing with everything he had to say. Then he started looking/doing stuff on his phone. He'd say "So yeah, I really think we should put your money towards....." and then be distracted by his phone and not finish his sentece. So I said "Put my money towards what?" Trying to get him back on track. He just never finished the conversation. This morning he text messaged me and said "BTW, this conversation isn't over."

    WTF?

ETA: I don't typically vent about FI. I love him, but he just baffles me sometimes.

Our Walmart spent a ton of money on getting Self checkouts, and we had them for like 2 years and they just recently spent another ton of money to get rid of them. People here hated them.

I'm irratated with H ATM. He's on det and he called when he got there, but there were like 4 or 5 other voices in the back ground and it was hard to hear him, it was like 3:30am my time, there was talk of Lizards (what?!) and then he said he was going to the Hard Rock Cafe and then to "The G spot".. Something about strip clubs in foreign countries makes me INCREDIBLY nervous. Not to mention I've seen & heard things that go on in foreign strip clubs so pardon me if thats not somewhere that I'm comfortable with my H being. It's totally not that I don't trust him to go to a strip club, if it were in the US I'd be fine with it. It's like 1am his time, and I'm not sure when they start work or whatever and I'm just grumpy about the whole situation. Plus normally I can call him, and now I cant. Grrrrr.

I agree. I deal with that in my job too. I think that is part of the reason it annoyed me. In regards to donations made at stores. The bell ringers for The Salvation Army around Christmas are nice but they are literally at every store. So if I make a somewhat large donation at one store I feel like a complete douche when I don't at the next store. I have tried to spread the donation out but no matter what there is always another ringer at the next store.

[QUOTE]Our Walmart spent a ton of money on getting Self checkouts, and we had them for like 2 years and they just recently spent another ton of money to get rid of them. Grrrrr.

Yeah, this. I have no problem with strip clubs or strippers or FI going to them, but if I got that phone call I might be a wee bit put out.
