somewhat wr vent!

the post office near me is driving me crazy! i keep getting "we attempted to deliver a package" notes in my mailbox when i am home  < i am in an apartment but each apartment has its own door to outside we only share a comon door with 1 other apartment , our mailbox is like 30 feet away out in the parking lot!....today i was expecting a package i was actually outside when the mailman was filling the mailboxes <i was spray painting my card box, its nice out like 60 > i looked up and he was driving away i went over to my mailbox and that damn slip was in there! i was like are you kidding me you didnt attempt to deliver anything ! i followed the mailman over to the next court yard and asked for my package i didnt even flip out on him like i wanted to i just asked for my package he was like "i have like 15 packages for walnut court" i was like well i live on cedar he was like oh and he went in his truck and got it! he actually got an attitude with me i was nothing but nice! he is the one not doing his job! i am tired of having to wait till the next day to pick up packages because the post office closes at 5 and the "attempted" delivery packages arent available for pickup till the day after the delivery "attempt"! they only attempt to deliver once! uggg this is not the first time eitherit happens all the time!

what am i supposed to do with about my wedding registry people sometimes ship you gifts!?

Re: somewhat wr vent!

  • I would go to the post office and talk to a supervisor.  Before you start reporting the behavior of your postman ask what they normally do when a package is too big for the mailbox in an appartment complex.  If they're supposed to attempt to deliver to the door then you can tell the super that your postman didn't.  Tell him exactly what happened, you were outside, saw the postman go by and found the slip in the box.  Tell him you're concered about what's going to happen when you start getting registry gifts.

    Good luck

I would go to the post office that he reports to and lodge a very firm complaint. That is not cool.

i am pretty sure they are supposed to deliver to the door- we have lived here for 2 1/2 years and this is only a recent problem within the last 6 months < and it has happened 4-8 times now />  they used to always deliver to the door... even open the common door and put the package in!
i emailed them before asking what happened and got the package redelivered the next day with an apology from the person who delivered < who was not our mail carrier />
  • I had the same problem with my maillady. I am very impatient and track packages so I know what day they are out for delivery. I saw the truck on the street so knew she should be dropping it off soon. I walked outside to see if she had dropped it off and saw her walking up towards our house. I ended up meeting her at the door with the "attempt" note, she was trying to drop it in our mailbox and go. She was going to leave the note because it was "sooo heavy she didn't want to carry it." It weighed maybe 30lbs. The whole time she was walking back to her truck she was complaining about having to carry it. I ended up meeting her at the sidewalk and carrying it in myself. Once I opened it over half of the contents were broken. In part that was due to bad packaging but the box also looked like it had been through hell. It's really annoying when you see them on the news complaining about having to cut jobs because people aren't using USPS as much anymore. With service like this what is the insintive? Sorry for the vent Embarassed

I'd go talk to the supervisor at your local post office as well. He should have at least gone to your door, sounds like he was just being lazy to me.

  • It amazes me everytime I go to the post office how terrible the customer service is and how miserable they all seem and how grumpy they always are.  I mean seriously at this point they're lucky to have a job and a govenment job with decent pay and great benefits at that! seriously at least be pleasant!  I've worked in customer service for most of my working career and well hated it most of that time but I was at least plesant and I did finally escape.  I mean why take your grumpiness out on the general public.  I understand the difficult customers but the rest of us normal folk.. I mean come on! Find another job if you're that miserable.

sorry..my vent kind of turned into a rant too
