Recommendations for Outdoor weddings?

Hey all...

I recently got engaged and was thinking about an outdoor wedding BUT having a plan in case it rains.  I don't know if this idea will work though because I just want to have the wedding outside and then the reception closer to home because my "to be hubby" is a firefighter and he can get the hall for fairly cheap.  Any ideas on sites that is fairly cheap but nice?  :)  I know that there are places out there that I am overlooking.  Any and all ideas would be helpful.  THANKS!

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the boards.

We can't answer this without more details.  Whats your budget? How many guests will you have?  Where exactly is home/the reception hall?  All of this will factor into what options might work for you.

Not sure exactly where you're at but there is a beautiful gazebo out south park.  I believe it's maple spings gazebo or something like that and it's beautiful!  Pro...very cheap..I think like 45.00 for 4 hours (but don't quote me...I'm not sure but I do know it's very cheap).  There's lots of beautiful parks like frick, white oak, mellon park, place out north park, or even in mcconnels (or however ya spell it) mills.  This is what I was looking to do too but I'm so scared of rain.  Not sure if any of these places have a backup plan if it rains...however if it doesn't rain...I couldn't think of more beautiful, inexpesive places!
There are millions of people in the world, but in the end, it all comes down to one.... Wedding Countdown Ticker

Dont know how many people you're having, but I once saw somebody have a very short ceremony at one of the overlooks in Mt washington...it would have to be a small group and it was rather quick, but it did look pretty...though not gonna lie, as somebody walking on Grandview randomly, it was kinda awkward to be involved in such as intimate moment, but i still thought it was cool

Congrats on the engagement!  I'm using SNJP out in Westmoreland.  It's a building that you can open up and feels more like a pavalion, plus there's a kitchen for catering.  I can't remember how much it is, but it's really reasonable (I'm trying to keep the wedding around $5,000).  It holds 250 people and has gorgeous outdoor space.

Unfortunately right now I don't have any more details.  He is in the process of finishing up paramedic school and I don't want to bother him.  SOON I will though because I will be running into NOT being able to see the location because of the weather around Pittsburgh (we all know what that is like).  I was just trying to get some ideas right now then looking into prices and so forth.  I know that this all sounds crazy....but I really don't know anything other than I am getting married to him in the future! : )  I am actually not even set on a date yet!  I have a few in mind but none are set in stone.  I am just looking for relatively cheap locations.  Thanks for all your help!

Well...after I posted the previous items I talked to my parents.  They said shoot for $6000 as a budget.  I can't even guess at guest amount right now.  Like I said before I am willing to take any ideas good or bad with a grain of salt...since I am the one asking the question in the first place.  I want something nice like I said before but not pricey.  If things change from what I am thinking I will repost other dilemas I have :)

    THANKS LADIES

Congrats!  I don't know where you're at in Pgh, but we're getting married in May at Old Economy Village in Ambridge.  It's a little out of the way for us, but it's beautiful.  And they have a building there as a back up in case it rains.  I don't know how many people you're inviting, but they have a small package for 20 guests and a large package for up to 150 people.  We went for the small package for an immediate family ceremony only, then having a seperate reception a month later.
