Welcome To Marriage

I made a couple of videos about marriage with my wife. Maybe they will brighten someone's day.

But here they are again because the intelligent mind of IloveMilkDuds automatically assumed it's something dirty when its not. Even though it's on....youtube.
• Whiteguy - no one is going to open any videos from some guy who has already been married for a couple of years and shows up out of nowhere on a wedding forum wanting people to open unknow links, youtube or not.
• Understandable. Didn't realize it until people had said it. I'm just trying to get people to laugh, I promise it's nothing dirty, but if you don't click I completely understand. Thank you for your time and sorry to bother you.

• Lucy, amateurs can "monetize" YouTube videos now by adding Google ads to the bottom of the video, then they get paid based on the number of views.  My guess?  Dude's trying to get more views so he can get ad revenue.  (But then, we all know I'm a cynic.)

Well, he pretty much admitted he's looking for hits, so make room for me on the "cynic" couch.

Especially since I'm really trying not to just flat out yell "GET A JOB, HIPPIE!" at the screen.**

**Before people start jumping on me about unemployment in this economy: 1) It was a joke. 2) Seriously, if you're looking for extra money, go apply at McDonald's or something. Don't solicit people to look at your home movies on YouTube in hopes that you'll be the next Jenna Marbles or Justin Beiber or whoever the devil those teenagers are listening to these days.

Yes...because getting a job at McDonalds is so easy too.

I hate when people say that shiiit. When I was unemployed, I applied everyewhere. Best buy, target, walmart, subway, etc. Those places don't just hire anyone. One of them flat out told me they wouldn't hire me because they knew I'd leave as soon as I found something better.

I had no idea when you were out of work that you started soliciting random Internet forums to watch lame videos that you made in hopes of making money as the next YouTube sensation.

Seriously, if they're looking to make money, it's pretty damn realistic advice considering their current course of action.
In Response to Re: Welcome To Marriage : To play devil's advocate, did you watch the video?  How are you sure they're lame? I know a lot of people that write their own blogs.  Nearly every one has Adsense set up so they can make money based on number of clicks, and nearly all of them solicit for clicks across the internet. I guess I should tell them all to go get a second job instead?
Posted by LingerLonger1
Did your friends start joining random forums strictly to promote their blogs? No? Then what do I care? Why would you come here and TN just to shamelessly plug yourself unless you were so arrogantly certain that you'd gain a so-called "career" from it?
And no, I didn't watch the videos. I don't really care to. Based on the "sales pitch" (for lack of a better term), I really don't think these people are capable of being as entertaining as they fancy themselves to be. If the videos were worth watching, I wouldn't need the person who made them to literally beg for an audience.

And now that I've moved into what I know comes off as "Jeez, why ya bein such a twunt ?" territory, I'm going to go back and reiterate what I said in the first place: it was a joke, I am more than aware that unemployment is a serious issue right now. And actually applying for a job is legit advice to somebody that's hoping to have a YouTube career.

• For all the unemployment comments, my haircut should probably give off my profession.

And no, I didn't do this to make money or get more views. I posted it to an audience that I thought might find it funny and laugh.

Again, I'm not trying to get the maximum amount of views for my "YOUTUBE CAREER." My wife and I made the videos because we thought people, specifically people in a relationship or people who were married, might relate to them a little bit and it might make them laugh. If not, then oh well. I have a full time job, go to school, married, and have a 17 month old son. Making people laugh is my true passion and I really enjoy making people laugh. I don't understand what is so wrong about that.

I wasn't planning on posting this video 100 times on your forum and then never posting again. If the community enjoyed the video, we would make more. It's just something I like to do in my spare time.

So you admit that you ARE seeking an audience, even though you insist that you aren't, and that you would continue on making (and essentially promoting) more of them if you did get the audience that you are but aren't seeking out here.

Look, soliciting for views and hits are against the rules, if you haven't figured that out yet. If you want to advertise anything, you are more than welcome to write TK a check. But free advertising doesn't happen. And truthfully, most of the people here probably don't
care anyway because we "don't know you". People come on here all the time and launch in about how much they think we'd love their blog or something and it goes over like a
lead balloon.

Now, say somebody like Linger, who is a long-standing active participant in the community that has never promoted anything before came along and said "Hey, guys, I made a YouTube video, I'd think you'd like", I bet you lots of people would go and watch the crap out of it. We "know" her and there's no sense of us being treated like some sort if free focus group for something she's looking to cash in on.
