[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Sing Along Songs? : My point. It's a fucking love song. Also, I have brown eyes too, so you know if anyone is FI's brown eyed girl it should be me. But she claims that she always sang it to him when he was a baby and it was important to her for that to be the son/mother song.

I mean, I get that certain songs are important to people, but the lyrics are wierd. Honestly, the chance any one realizes what is being said in the song is slim to none. I doubt any one will care and I was just being weird BUT I get your angst.
  • I doubt anyone will notice that line. It's near the end and not one of the more well known lines. But most people do realize it's a love song. Also, my annoyance is exaggerated because her choosing this song is indicative of her overall attitude. She isn't dealing too well with "her baby leaving the nest" so she keeps trying assert dominance over me. Oh well, I'll just keep playing nice.
  • I think there are a lot of Taylor Swift haters on here, but pretty much any of her songs I really enjoy singing along to really loud. Oh and Sublime, Santeria.

    hahha good for you.

I hate my MIL and at the wedding the DJ mistakening played I've got a Friend in You by Randy Newman (Toy Story) instead of You've Got a Friend by James Taylor and she was so pissed we legit have pictues of her frowning. Karma bitch.

I love singing welcome home by coheed too (loooove that song), benny and the jets is also another fave (theres a pic of me belting it out at my wedding).
  • Oh my god, that's amazing. Hmm, sadly I don't think our DJ will play a song other than Brown Eyed Girl accidentally. There isn't exactly a song to get it confused with. Think he'd play something inflamatory for an extra $50?
  • American Girl - Tom Petty is the one we have SO many pics of people belting at our wedding. That, and it is hilarious how Mike dance to Billie Jean with a huge ensemble.

  • "Touch A Touch A Touch Me" from The Rocky Horror Picture Show

"Livin' On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi

I agree with "Don't Stop Believin'", and the RENT and Chicago soundtracks.

I like to listen to soundtracks during long road trips, because to me, it's like an in-flight movie and helps to pass the time. I drove 5 hours from Oakland to Ventura listening to the Pulp Fiction soundtrack and it will forever remind me of the smell of orange groves, sun on dirt fields and Dusty Springfield's "Son of a Preacher Man".

I told this story to FI and he has now changed the mother/son dance song to I've got a friend in you. He is a massive Toy Story fan, fanatic really. He thinks that will be more appropriate and we'll just play Brown Eyed Girl during the general dancing part. Interesting resolution.
