What to include for fantasy (famous people) invitations XP invites & paper board

I want to send a few invitations out to my dream guests (FI's favorite athlete and my favorite band), just like others send one to the President or to Mickey Mouse :)

My questions is, do I send a "full" invitation (RSVP card, enclosure card, etc) or just the invitation itself?  I don't really expect them to come, I'm just hoping for maybe an acknowledgement reply from them.

  • I've never heard of such a thing, is it common?

    </div><div>Fairly common yes. If you send an invite to the white house you get a congratulations card signed by the President and First lady. If you send one to Mickey Mouse they send a card... I think Cinderella does too. The Pope, Queen of England, and more are also ones who do it. It's pretty neat. </div><div>

    [QUOTE]I'd probably just send full invitations since you'll have enough, I'm assuming.  I'd be the one to stuff the envelopes differently, and 5 of my guests wouldn't get an RSVP card, but the president will.  :P Thanks for reminding me to add these to my "guest" list (I wouldn't have budgeted enough invitations to do this).

    Seriously!??! I'm mailing one today.
  • Am I the only one who thinks the president has more important things to do than sign wedding congratulation cards?

    ::yes I'm a debbie downer::

    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    Not to burst any bubbles but it's not actually signed by the president and first lady -- it's a very good electronic signature.  But the envelope it came in was very nicely handwritten by some low level intern I'm sure.

    If you send an invite to the Vice President you get a personalized letter back with an actual signature on the letter although I doubt it was actually Biden who signed it.

    ETA:  for clarity.

    I'll be a Debbie Downer with you  I think that sending invites to famous people is dumb.
  • To each their own (I think it sounds weird, but if you're into that, go for it!)
  • WHAT a unique souvenir! I've never heard of this before, but I'm doing it for sure! Ha! Hmmmm, now who should go on my list?
