Military Brides

Hey everyone!

Hey there everyone!

I post on other boards and came in here today so wanted to introduce myself! I'm M and my H is T. We got married on June 25th. H is in the Navy. Right now he is recruiting but on Friday, we will see if he got his sea duty bid. Cross your fingers for us :-)

Have a great Wednesday!

Welcome to the board, hope your H gets the duty he wants. My FI hated recruiting with the fire of a thousand suns!

Welcome!  I've heard a lot about recruiters, but mostly the bad ones - my FI is in the law depot at Parris Island and they do AdSeps all th time for recruiters who have fooled around with high schoolers (underage, so statutory rape, and in their recruiting districts, so against military policy).  Often, these recruiters are married, to add insult to injury!  In one case, he got a 15 year old girl pregnant while his own wife was 8 months pregnant.  Yowza!

Anyway, that's all I know of recruiting.  Yucky!

He was able to bid for 5 jobs: 3 in Washington state and 2 in Georgia. I'm torn between the two places so I'm not getting my hopes up for anything. I just want to know. If he doesn't get one, we have to bid again this month.

Those 2 are so far from each other! H is from Washington, we wanted to get orders there next or San Diego but we're going to VA instead.

I'm in VA right now! Let me know if you have any questions! I'm from PA so Washington makes me nervous. I think I'd like WA better than Georgia though.

Where in VA? We got orders to Norfolk and have been thinking about living in Virginia Beach. Are you familiar with the area?

Washington is a beautiful state and there are so many things to do, just gotta get used to the rain!

Yep, on the adultary charge.  They took 'em straight from the courtroom.  This was the big excitement when I was up visiting FI.  They all hated this dirtbag.

We are in northern Virginia. I know that finding a safe place to live near Norfolk could be tough. My bridesmaid moved from there and she lived in a place called Ghent. She said it was for the younger crowd and "most normal"

<div>That's what we've been hearing about Norfolk. We are pretty set on living in Viriginia Beach now instead because of that. I looked into Ghent before, it's downtown and very expensive for the nice places! </div>

Hi and welcome!  I'm a Navy wife, originally from NY and now stationed in WA.  I know what you mean about being nervous for Washington, as I actually cried when I first found out we got orders here.  It was my last choice because of the distance and how close I am with my family, and I was not at all happy about coming here.  But I can tell you now that I absolutely love it here, and am sad that we are here such a short time.  I actually told H though a few weeks ago that I wouldn't mind getting stationed here again and staying here.  Do you know what base the orders were to that he put in for?

We also came from recruiting before coming out here, and my H also hated it with a passion.  He was so happy when he finally got new orders, and is so happy to be doing real Navy work again as he calls it.

beach- This was Fi's last choice. He was peeved when he found out he had to come up here too, since all his family is down south...
I'm glad he did get "stuck" here of course.. and now that it's backpacking season and winery touring time, and we are getting some heat, he's falling in love with the state. :]
Ya just can't beat the nature here! I'm glad you like it here so much now. This place can be really hit or miss for military, depending on what weather people are used to... which is understandable.

We will probably either be at Bangor or Kings Bay. H finds out tomorrow if he got any of the 5 bids. I'm hoping he did because I don't want to be back at square one for another month!

Japan was nowhere near H's choices for his duty station but it's what he got! Thankfully he'll be back stateside soon enough. Good luck to you OP!

haha talk about choices, the aircraft H got was not even in his top 20 on his dream sheet. There were only 28 spots.

Moral of the story seems to be, pick your best to worst order, and then flip it and turn it in. :) hahaha
