Meeting before the ceremony...

Although we REALLY do not want to have to do this, in order to get the pictures we want outside, we have to take pictures before the ceremony. the sun will be down after the ceremony :( since we are pretty bummed about this, we are wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to go about this? we want our meeting to be special and the photographer will capture the moment. has anyone done this or been to a wedding where it has been done? our pictures will be taken at a train station in the area. thank you!

We're doing this, too. Our Ceremony and reception are at the same place, and there's no way we'd be able to get as many cools shots as we want, AND family photos during cocktail hour.

We haven't decided yet, but we're thinking about arriving to our first photo location separately, and having the guys blindfold him! Either that or we'll just have him facing away, and I'll come up behind him.

Why not ask your Photographer? I'm going to ask mine and see if she has any suggestions.

I've had some people tell me that it's actually a good thing to do the 'reveal' before the Wedding, because it makes you less nearvous at the ceremony.

A lot of people do this. We did too! We had our first look in the church. DH waited for me at the altar with his back facing me. I then walked down the aisle and tapped him on the shoulder when I got to him. It was really special cuz then the photog sort of backed off of us a bit so we could have our little moment together. Here are some pics for reference:

Our cinematographers captured many of the "first meet" moments that are very romantic and sentimental (don't go by our SDE as a reference as ours was very lighthearted and not romantic - most of their work is tear jerking!).  The older stuff is more geared towards weddings as they have spanned out to other arenas as of late!

These videos should give you a good idea of what you can do for a first meet:

Here is one of their SDEs that I really like what they did with the first meet:

We are doing this so we can 1) get photos at some special places around the city during daylight and 2) enjoy our cocktail hour. We are going to meet at the old water tower because it's a spot my mother really wants pictures at. We're going to travel seperately and meet there. I think it will be fun and actually be more special since we'll be alone with just our photogs in the background. Then we are going to hop in a cool vintage car and cruise around to a few locations before we head back to our venue.

We had pics before our ceremony as well and it didn't take away from the special time of him seeing me walk down the isle.

This was also the second time around for us and we are much older. I also took the top tier of our wedding cake on our honeymoon and ate it up!!! We loved it.

I will have a special cake made for our first aniversary.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and comments! We were mostly worried about meeting up before the ceremony taking away from the big moment of me walking down the aisle!
