Giving all my favorite ideas to my friend....

and even though I'm getting married before her, I'm afraid she'll think that I'm stealing her wedding plans. She and I talk about our weddings a lot and I help her a lot with wedding planning because I LOVE the planning and she hates it. As we talk more and more, I spill some of my favorite ideas that I have considered, but haven't really settled on... like a candy bar, or a unique unity ceremony (unlike the candle or sand ceremony)... and I'm worried that if I end up doing the candy bar or unity ceremony at my wedding that she will feel like I've stolen her wedding plans even though I'm the one who gave her the idea in the first place. I even put together an inspiration board for her. I don't know. Am I just being silly?? I mean, how many weddings have candy bars at them...

    Candy buffets and unity candles are so uneek.  As for how many weddings have candy bars at them, try eleventy billion and one.

    I dont think you will be stepping on her heels at all. Think about all the weddings you have gone too. Some of the the things done are done at every wedding such as cake cutting etc. No matter if you use the same "unique" idea will be different because your weddings will be different in color... formality... feel... besides if you are using the irish tradition many brides have done it through out history choose a different color in ribbon so their not identical. As for the candy bar it is extremely popular you would be copying her at all!
    Enjoy and incorporate into your wedding that makes you happy. Your friend will be just as happy for you!

    wow, some of you are incredibly unhelpful and a little rude. If you found my concern so ridiculous, then you should not have responded. Thank you, to the ones who bothered to give a real answer.
    And as for the whole white dress comment and tearing her ass up, her dress is red... so... I win =)

    if you don't want her to have the same types of things as you, don't tell her what your doing.  i'm going to venture to a guess that you got most of your ideas from magazines, tv shows, etc, so they are not your unique ideas, anyone with $5.00 can see them.  nothing anybody does has not been done before.  if you watch WeTv i'm going to guess you've seen at least 200 candy bars.  keep your favorites to yourself, if you have different styles, she will like different things in the mags...

    What she's describing is basically doing the pagan ritual for a handfasting but without the icky pagan-ness of it being a handfasting... 

    Ummm well it can't be stealing her ideas if they're like your ideas right? If she complains remind her she coulda planned her own wedding lol
