First time poster, so here goes. I am looking for recommendations for a dj or band that can play for our wedding in June 2011. Not sure where to begin and a friend suggested checking this out, so here I am.
All the Right Groove is a very popular DJ service. They do book up fast though. So I recommend contacting them ASAP! We are using a band out of Charlotte for our wedding: the Tsunami Wave Riders. They are a trop rock band (our wedding is tropical themed) by they play all kinds of stuff.
We used Joe Bunn from Bunn DJ Company. He was such an awesome DJ, one of the best around, and did a great job keeping our reception flowing and the dance floor packed. He has a lot of associate DJs and they too do an amazing job.
I've also seen Audio 2 Go at some recent weddings, and they were really good, but I wasn't dealing with them as a bride. We did meet with them & enjoyed the meeting.

Ditto, huge reason we ended up chosing them!

I will check all of those out. Thank you so much. A tropical themed wedding sounds exciting. We are doing a vintage love stamp/letters/photos kind of a theme.
We do live in Texas now. We met at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, so that is where the wedding is going to be, in Wait Chapel.
I never expected to hear back from people so fast. This is such a helpful site.
Thanks for all the suggestions and keep them coming.
Where is your reception? Baptist Meidcal Center is one of my company's clients, so I've toured the campus before. I LOVE the Greylyn (spelling?) house! And the other little inn-like houses over there!

The reception is across the quad from the church in the Benson Center. It holds right at 300 people, so its perfect. We both come from big families, so we needed a large space.
As far as DJ's go, I think i am going to book with ALL THE RIGHT GROOVES. I was going to meet with one other DJ, but Bethany just sent me an e-mail saying that another couple wants to book on the same date and need to know if I want to book... ekkk, better just go ahead and book them!
We're also using All the Right Grooves and working with Jill. Between all of the references from all the other knotties...we're feeling really good about our decision!
We booked Bethany with All the Right Grooves based on recommendations from the ladies on here and also did a little emailing to the references on their website. I heard nothing but great reviews and I LOVED meeting with Bethany! She made me feel so comfortable and she made me so excited about hiring them!
I have sent many of the suggestions emails. I heard back from ATRG right away, but unfortunately they are already booked up. Anybody with band suggestions?
early on, when we were still considering a band, we worked with someone over at east coast entertainment. i liked the fact that they give you TONS of facets to narrow down the choices. basically, you tell them budget, type of music, and they give you choices. you can listen to the bands and some even have videos!
we really liked the idea of a live band, but we decided to go with the dj after all.
btw, I know I also recommended Audio 2 Go earlier. I've been to two wedding this summer that used them, I am not a dancer, but I danced the whole time!

We had The Plaids they play all over NC. There website is theplaids.com. They are amazing and play a variety of music and you can request they play certain songs and they will try and learn as many as they can. I really highly recommend them. Everyone LOVED them!
I went to a wedding last year that a well known Raleigh DJ was hired for. I was totally blown away that they did not provide lights for the dance floor. When the venue turned the lights way down, it was literally dancing in the dark. Very odd.
