i think anybody who votes for number 4 is too busy being hateful to actually be iinformed and follow politics. if you go around calling everybody who disagrees with you a moron, you are never going to challenge your beliefs and learn to live in a diverse country. ffs, i'm disgusted #4 is even an option. why not have "not a fan of fox or palin, but good for them" or something? why have an option so hateful and partisan?

eta: it's funny that people who are saying fox isn't fair and balanced won't admit this isn't a fair and balanced poll. it's also funny that the poll maker admits she wasn't trying to be balanced with the poll and yet people still try to argue it's balanced.
  • Two out of three words in the title of this post made me cringe. "On" was not one of them.
  • Looking forward to the great clips for The Daily Show.
  • it's just too perfect for words.

<div>I've yet to meet someone with a neutral opinion about Fox.  You either love it or hate it.  And while it's certainly not nice to call Palin a moron, many people find it a stretch to call her intelligent.  </div><div>
</div><div>Anyway, I'm obviously taking a shot at both Fox and Palin by the way I worded my poll.  I wasn't intending to be P.C.</div>
  • I don't see what the issue is with option four. It's well-balanced, if limiting wording-wise, but so is option three.

Option three is all "ohmygosh this is the bestest thing evar!" and option four is "this is the dummest idea I've ever heard". They're equally satisfying to people and are both valid options. I don't see how favouring number four in any way makes you unintellligent or closed-minded, it's an opinion and there is sufficient evidence to back up one having said opinion, as there is also sufficient evidence to back up someone favouring option three.

  • i wonder if sarah is aware of the blatant falsification that fox has repeatedly been guilty of.  it's not a matter of disagreeing, it's a matter of repeated, willful fraud.

FWIW, I voted for #3. Both Palin and FOX have grown on me over the past year , largely due to FOX News being DH's favorite television station. I'm interested to see how it works out.

EDIT - Expat: I would call my opinion of FOX neutral. I neither love it nor hate it. I think it can be great at times, but I'm not in love with it. I watch it with DH and agree with some things, and disagree with others. I don't mind it.

number 3 doesn't insult anybody. if you don't see the difference, you are beyond help. now if #3 said, "sarah is awesome and fox is awesome. they'll expose those stupid liberals for who they really are," THEN there would be a parallel between the options.

and anybody who doesn't believe that ALL media slants the news will have a huge wake up call one day. choose the slant you prefer, but don't say one lies and the rest don't. that's just uninformed and sad.
  • there's a difference between slant and fraud.

</div><div>I think it's really sad that it's come down to having to "choose your slant" to get the news.  The reporting of news is supposed to be - by definition - reporting.  As in tell me the facts without telling me how to feel about it.  There should be an absence of opinion in reporting.

    </div>
  • Is Palin going to be a newscaster/reporter, or a commentator? There's a difference and I'm just wondering.
    image
  • I think Palin and Nancy Grace should have a daytime talk show together. They are two of the most well-spoken women of our age. :P
Sarah- You're right in that all news is slanted. I would say that other news stations are just more subtle about it, and thus come off better.
They may be thinking, "Obama can do no wrong." But they don't straight up say that.
Fox, rather, emphasizes "Barack Hussein  Obama" with unveiled enthuiasm.

for what it's worth, i don't always agree with fox. i watch cnn and fox every night and read news from many different news sources to get different angles. i just think it's ridiculous to be all "ZOMG I DISAGREE WITH THEM SO THEY ARE SOOOO STUPID!" i don't have much respect for people (on any side) who name call like middle schoolers rather than rationally discussing issues and learning from each other. but, whatever. to each her own. i'm going to bed. have your little anti-conservative party here all night if you want. or spend some time learning about the people with whom you disagree. i have tons of liberal friends and have great discussions with them. and neither calls each other morons or idiots. we learn from each other. imagine that.

and fwiw, i think any time a well-known political figure agrees to a regular commentary role it's pretty cool. you get to learn what they think about a wide array of issues.

I dunno, personally I find "FOX is a great network" to be highly insulting, but that's just me. It's a matter of opinion and saying I'm beyond help when you are failing to recognize that both are extremist views of the two most common opinions of both Palin and FOX make it seem as though maybe you're the one beyond help?

I chose the option I most believe in and find option three offensive. I do not see how "great" corresponds to blatant lying and fabrication of news stories but again, it's just an opinion and, seeing as I can and will readily back up valid, recognized reasoning for having said opinion, I don't see how you can take issue with it. Disagree, yes, but go so far as to sling insults when you're saying that same behaviour is disgusting in the context of a poll is ridiculous.

FWIW, I also intensely dislike CNN and MSNBC, just not to the degree that I dislike FOX.

  • I don't think there was an anti-conservative party going on. Although liberals do have more fun.
FWIW, I come from a family of Republicans, so we've all learned to respectfully disagre.

  • This is what I got from their website: "The former Alaska governor, whose book, Going Rogue: An American Life, became a bestseller weeks before it was released and remains No. 2 on the New York Times bestseller list, has signed a multi-year deal to offer her political commentary and analysis across all Fox News platforms, including Fox Business Channel, FoxNews.com and Fox News Radio."

So, I guess she'll be commentating and giving her opinion.

i think msnbc's constant omission of facts is fraud. they love to skip entire stories or pick and choose what they include just to make extra sure that their coverage only slants far left.

and you know what? i don't think they are idiots. it's their prerogative and there is obviously a market for it.

</div><div>EDIT:  What I mean is it doesn't have to be a partisan issue.

  • Let's put it this way: "beyond help" generally means, where I come from, too thick to get a clue. Which, simplified, means "moron". So... I call a crate of hippos here. You cannot call me a name (in other words or not) and then go on to say that the reason you've said that is because I used the same name (in other words) to describe my opinion on something. It's called hypocrisy.

Also, I don't know where you got the idea that I hate conservatives from me thinking Palin is a moron and FOX is bordering on criminal. I dislike her as a person, I think she comes across as uniltelligent and while I disagree with her views, I respect them. FOX is just a whole other can of worms, though I tend to look down on most news networks.
