My fiancee and I began planning our wedding not too long ago. We had decided on a small intimate ceremony in November and I of course have had in my head what I wanted like most women do. Well, he got hurt at work pretty bad and due to the timing of it, he lost his job and thus his insurance. He has 2 kids from his previous marriage that he is responsible for their insurance and with just my income, we have been struggling. So we decided to do the JP thing at the court house this coming Monday to get him and the kids on my insurace sooner rather than later.
The only people who will be able to attend are my dad and step-mom. I of course want my sister and mother there, but they live in Vegas and we are in Houston-too far to expect them to travel for the actual ceremony at such short notice. My mom is a little upset understandably. We still wanted to do something in November to have the family together and celebrate our union. I wanted to get thoughts on what I could do that would be appropriate. I still wanted to be able to have a dress (not over the top wedding-type; simple, long off white, lacy wedding type) and do some sort of promises to each other in front of our families similar a vow renewal, I guess. I'm not really sure what to do to include family and would like some input.
