Trashing the Dress????

When did Trashing the Dress become the new things for brides to do? I can't imagine destroying the dress that I've dreamed of wearing on my wedding day and paying so much for it. I understand you only wear it one day...but it would break my heart to trash it.
So are you trashing it? or Not? Reasons.

It doesn't have to mean "trashing" it litterally....you just take a series of pictures in it doing things that represent yourself.

This could by lying in the grass....(not very harmful) or splashing around in an ocean...(more harmful to the gown)...how far you want to take the pictures are totally up to you. You can find some cool shots if you google search it.

I haven't decided if I am going to or not...but you don't have to decide right away...you can wait a few months after your wedding and decide then.

I don't know, I've seen pictures where brides have completely destroyed their dress. I can understand the fun ones on the grass like when you have an outside wedding and such. But I've seen some with mud, paints, and it just gets worse from there.

Yeah....when they get that extreme...I don't really get it. If you don't care to keep your dress, wouldn't you want to atleast give/sell it to someone else so they can enjoy it too.

To each their own, I suppose.

I'm not going to, I am head over heels in love with my dress and couldn't imagine doing anything that would harm it or even get one spot on it...but as stacelace22 said to each their own.

We have a vineyard theme wedding and are having it at a local VA winery. So for my Trash the Dress I'm going to another one of my fav wineries to stomp grapes. I think it will be fun to have pics rolling amongst the vines and I've always wanted to stomp grapes. Hopefully the dress will survive enough for me to be able to donate it. But I'm not that concerned. Although my mom may kill me when she finds out.

There's a very real possibility that I'll pull my dress out after a year and put it on again. I love my dress. I'd wear it all the time if that weren't so incredibly impractical.

My dress isn't going to be a formal gown, so I'm planning on wearing it after the wedding. And, someday if I end up having kids, I'm hoping to turn it into a christening gown for them. So no "trashing" will be going on. However, I see nothing wrong with "day after shoots" where you wear the gown in some more fun, playful pictures.

I can't see trashing such an expensive gown. I would certainly donate mine to someone less fortunate than me before I would trash it.

I've heard of couples doing a trash the dress shoot together on their first anniversary. I think it sounds fun. Plus it doesn't always destroy the dress, it depends on what you do and actual dress.

Trash the dress is a misleading name. Unless you really want to trash it (run through mud puddles for example) what TTD really means is taking pictures doing things you might not normally do in a wedding dress. I have considered this so that FH and I could get pictures done out in the woods after the wedding.
