Ceremony and/or Reception Venues?

Hello all!  I've been browsing over a lot of these posts for a while.  I've gotta say, after a day of disappointing venue appointments, reading everyone's reviews is extremely helpful!

Although, I'm running low on possible options for ceremony/reception venues.  Ideally, I would like to have the ceremony on-site, but depending on which venue(s) we like best, that doesn't have to be the case.  I'm a non-denominational bride looking for possible ceremony site ideas other than a church?  Also, I like more unique reception venues, unlike the typical banquet facility with ornate carpeting and sconces.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Congratulations to all!  Smile

How many guests are you planning to invite? If it's less than 88, check out the Butler Mansion. I posted reviews that are probably on the second page by now, but it's a really beautiful place and you can have the ceremony and reception there. You also get a DOC. Seating capacity for the reception is 88 people. We had 50 and it worked out really well.

ETA: Here are some pictures. Mind you, if your guest list is more than 88 people this won't matter haha.

    Dining Room

    Stairs (possible ceremony location)

    Lawn ceremony location

    Cocktail Hour

Buffet room (we custom-built our menu)/indoor ceremony location

    Atrium/dance floor

    Beautiful fountain

ETA 2: Took a while to upload these and you replied while I was doing it. Oh well haha. Good luck!

  • Well, as far as the number of guests who show up, it may be around 88 or slightly more than that.  Thank you for the recommendation though, I'll definitely keep it in mind  :)

  • You could check out the Karpeles Manuscript Museum, or Historical Museum...they're catered by Olivers (good food!).
  • Becker Farms is awesome!  You should definitely check it out!  :)
  • I got married at Rich's Atrium. My wedding was off site at a church but they offered to have the ceremony on site. You have it on one of the bridges in the Atrium if I remember correctly.  I know Samuels Grand Manor does ceremonies as well in the gazebo. Tonawanda Castle and Akron Timberlodge as well.

That is all I can think of at the moment Good Luck!

  • I don't know too much information about it, but I know that Holiday Valley in Ellicottville does weddings where you can marry I think either outside on a patio by one of the lodges or even up on the top of the mountain (they have ski-lifts carry everyone up!  Kind of a cool idea and definitlely a "different" kind of space).  Then they also hold receptions in their lodge areas. I have no idea about prices or how many they can accomodate, but I had a friend who went to a wedding there this past summer and the pictures I saw were great. I know she had a blast too. Good luck!
