    Sheesh.

Brianna- Couldn't have said it better myself.

Stephie - clear plastic chairs?  I haven't seen them yet but I have a mental image that screams tacky.   Hopefully they don't look like they do in my imagination.

I have to flame one of the cake places we have (maybe not anymore) a cake tasting with on Monday.  She emailed me and asked if I was going to do a grooms cake and I said yes but it was a surprise so she asked if I wanted to send a picture and we could discuss I was very happy.  I sent her this picture of what I want.

She emails back and says she has to be honest she doesnt think she can replicate it to the perfection of the picture I said I understood and asked what exactly she thought she couldnt replicate because the groom cake is a must have and if necessary maybe we should just cancel the tasting.  She emailed me back saying she could "likely" do something like this cake.

I am not trying to be mean but come on that cake is messy and looks like something someone did at home not someone who owns a bakery and is a well established business.  Maybe my expectations are just too high but I dont think I even want to go to the tasting now.

Tiffany- I am pretty sure she is talking about the lucite chairs...

I think if you want everyone to get along and be nice to each other visit weddingbee.  No one can say anything rude and you can't be snarky, which is why I can't post anymore.

I would love for WB to have flame free time.  They always talk so negatively about the knot but boy they have their heads in the sand.

That chair looks incredibly uncomfortable.  Do venues have them now so they can be more neutral looking?

I had padded banquet chairs at my venue that were super comfy.  They weren't gorgeous or good looking really, but honestly I didn't care.  They're just chairs.

I tend to have very modern taste, so I kind of like the lucite chairs. I think it totally depends on the venue, though. Those aren't really appropriate for a traditional ballroom.
  • edited December 2011
Hmm... I agree, it depends on the venue.

I gotta say though, I don't love it.

I like this lucite chair better:

I would imagine having to get a chair cushion for them though. Satin + plastic= slide onto the floor. It would be hilariously tragic.

bobbi - At least she was honest with you about her abilities. It would have been FAR worse if she had delivered cake two to you on your wedding day.

On a side note - this isn't really a flame or truly directed at anyone specifically, just something that makes me cringe when I see it. It is HIGHLY illegal to sell cakes out of your home in Texas without a completely separate commercial grade kitchen. If you are using a home baker DO NOT post her name/phone number on the boards. It is a $4,000 fine the first time you are caught and message boards and craigslist are some of the health department's favorite ways to catch people.

True I would just think as a professional if it were me I would leave it with not being able to do it I wouldnt be proud to say I could do something like cake number 2.  If I was a baker I wouldnt even try if I wasnt capable because I wouldnt be proud to display that work.  I am however very thankful she was honest with me!

    haha Seriously, Heather!

Look, I'm sorry if I offended anyone or made them feel like I was picking on them.  All of my statements were broad except for the one directed at Bridget about not really knowing what "Flame Free Friday" meant.  If you can't take what some girls on the internet say with a grain of salt, then I'd hate to see how you handle confrontation in real life.  And it's really sad to me that we can't have honest opinions on here without someone's feelings getting hurt.

Steph-- I've done a lot of research on hedgehogs. I would love one, but my dogs would eat it. I went to the pet store to check one out and it hissed at me like crazy. I was kind of scared of it. Are you looking to get one?

I flame that fact that I can't have the knot up all day to keep up with posts like these. Sometimes I can't check it at all during the day, and then I get home and feel left out.

Maybe I'll keep it open and see what my limits really are around here...

My dad had a hedgehog when I was a kid. It was honestly the most boring animal ever. Maybe ours was just extra dumb, but all it did was walk the perimeter of the room. All. Day.

My dad finally gave it away to a family member...
