Makeup!

Hi all, I tend to be a lurker (bad mannered, I know), but I could use some advice. I am on quite a budget, so I don't know that I can afford most of the highly recommended makeup artists for the big day, so does anyone know any good salons/makeup counters that do consultations and will show you how to do your makeup?  What would be even better would be if the cost of the consultation is redeemable in products... any ideas??

I'm not positive on this, but I've heard MAC makeup and Clinique both have some sort of deal you can get...

I went to a MAC counter before my e-pics and they did a great job, they didn't 'teach' me how to do it but I don't see why they wouldn't. You need to spend $50 in products though, I spent about $55 and got foundation, mascara, and lipstick. In comparison Smart and Chic charges $45 for a makeup application.

I have heard Mac in uptown is the best to go to for having them apply makeup. They all seem very knowledge on their products. I went there one day with a friend and we were there for 2 hours, trying on everything haha. The ladies helped up apply the makeup and they showed us two different techniques for smoky eyes. They even did one eye and let us do our other eye and coached us through it. You can either stop in and browse like I did, or set up an appointment for a makeup application but you have to buy $50 worth of makeup, which isn't hard there :)

I used MAC in uptown for my engagement photos and Boudoir photos. Both times I just bought $50 worth of products. I wear MAC everyday and everytime I go buy MAC makeup they are great (all locations I've been to).

My two recs are to get the face primer and eye shadow primer! I did my own makeup and ussed MAC products for my sisters wedding in the Dominican Republic (HOT and humid) and 8 hours later it still looked great. I went about 2 weeks before the wedding and MAC helped me choose colors and face makeup that photographs well and put it all on me and explained what they did. I practiced almost everyday and was very pleased with the outcome!
