How to budget for decor

Hi, I am recently engaged so just starting to budget and plan my wedding. I, of course, want the most beautiful and elegant wedding, but I am on a tight budget.  Can anyone tell me a reasonable amount to spend on reception/ ceremony decor? Or recommend a non expensive vendor? I want lighting and fabric draping.
Thank you!

  • Ask for quotes around your area, but fabric and uplighting are both really expensive, so you might have to pick one or the other or neither depending on your personal budget.

  • Keep an open mind and start shopping around. Lightening is typcially not a cheap thing, a lot of DJ companies offer lights as part of their package. I had 6 uplights, dj dance floor lights and that was already $700 Once you find your reception venue then you can figure out budget for decorations. Depending on the venue you pick, you may not need as much as your picturing at the moment.

  • Hey Ally - I'm a Phoenix bride too! Have you started looking at venues yet? A lot of the prettier venues around town are stunning on their own, so I would book a place before you decide you need to drape or uplight it. Good luck!

You can also find our local board to the left. We aren't super active, but a lot of the girls over there are good resources for venues and vendors.
