I celebrated my mom's 50th on Saturday by hanging out with her all day, drinking coffee and getting our nails done. We went out for tapas for dinner, my favorite! Sunday I got my hairs cut. Speaking of hairs, I showed my H the list of Healthy Hair foods Lyn pointed out and we're eating a bunch of those items starting this week. Even our pizza choice has healthy hair foods. :)

• I feel sick just thinking of all the work I need to get done today. I have to find tutors for like 3 students TODAY otherwise I'll risk their parents getting very angry at me. I have to order books for a ton of students, make about 40 calls, and desperately try to sell something since there are only 4 days left in the month. And I have 6 voicemails on my machine. Ugh.

My weekend was busy. Friday night BF and I went to a get-together at a bar for all of my old coworkers (who are all losing their jobs). I definitely felt guilty for still having my job, but most of all it was great to get to see so many people I haven't seen in almost a year.

Saturday I took Kaya to the new vet, who I really liked. She had to get three vaccinnes and he said that she was the friendliest shiba inu he's ever met, which made me a very proud mama. I also made an appointment for her to get spayed on March 20th. I'm going to be a nervous wreck!

After we got home, she started acting funny. She just sat down and wouldn't move, and when BF tried to pick her up she cried as if it hurt her. I started freaking out thinking she was having a reaction to the vaccines, and called my friend who's in vet school. She told me it was normal for dogs to get lethargic and have some soreness after vaccines, and as long as it didn't get worse, she'd probably be fine. After a few hours, she started moving around more, so I knew she was feeling at least a little better. We had dinner reservations in the city for BF's birthday, and weren't sure if we should leave her. In the end, we decided to go after setting up our laptops as "nanny cams" to watch the living room and kitchen. We set it up so that skype would auto-answer video calls. It was awesome - we checked on her probably once every ten minutes the whole time we were out, to make sure she kept moving around. When we got home, she seemed perfectly fine :-)

Yesterday we went to the dog park and Trader Joe's, then ate dinner and watched the Oscars. I freakin love Jennifer Lawrence (and her dress). Also - if anyone wants to get me a belated birthday present, I'll take one Channing Tatum, please.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Weekend Update : I had never shopped there before, but I was at a different store in the mall that is right next to it, so I decided to pop in on a whim. When I saw the BOGO deal on pants, I was like "HELL YEAH". They had some super cute short trench coats/spring coats on sale 20% off and I really really wanted to get one, but what I needed was work clothes. So, I sadly passed. I did walk around the store and touched each coat lovingly, though. Hahaha...I'm a dork.

• Sure! Looking at that list I realized I don't eat any of those items regularly. Some of the subs, such as avocado, but otherwise hardly ever.
• Nope. I just don't want to eat raw or semi raw flesh. I'm good without.
• I don't eat the meats, or the eggs. I do eat a lot of the berries, sweet potatoes and the beans. It should be easy to incorporate more of the non mean stuff.

The term 'sushi' actually refers to the specially seasoned rice used. There are a lot of nigiri options that don't have sashimi included such as tamago (egg) and ebi (cooked shrimp). There are also things like inarizushi (seasoned rice in a fried tofu pouch). Chirashizushi (seasoned rice topped with various things) is also an option -- you can just get all cooked ingredients on top of it instead of sashimi.

There's also Korean 'sushi' called kimbap that has ingredients like egg, radish, cucumber, carrots, spinach and bulgogi.

Years of Japanese lessons has made me a sushi hipster :|.

;) I tried Cali rolls a couple of times and had to throw them up. I think my brain/stomach are like "DUDE! This isn't food! Abort! Abort!"
• UGH. Just got a call from the vet's office saying Kaya's stool sample tested positive for worms and parasites! I can't believe it - she tested negative for everything at 9 weeks, and has been wormed. BF and I think maybe he picked up a stool sample that wasn't hers (we get a lot of stray cats and racoons in our yard). Since she didn't go #2 the morning of the appointment, he just picked up whatever looked fresh. (Sorry if this is TMI). She seems perfectly healthy I just can't believe anything is wrong with her! Anyways, BF just left a message with the receptionist, who's going to ask the vet if he can tell that it's definitely dog poop that we brought in. BF will have to drive to the vet's office this afternoon to either bring in a new sample, or pick up Kaya's med's. I am NOT in a good mood :-(

California rolls are disgusting. Faux crab is gross as hell.

My favorite roll is one at a place near our house. It's called the rising sun roll and is smoked salmon, avocado, cucumber and masago (smelt roe). SO GOOD.

[QUOTE]UGH.

That happened with Quigley. It's easy for dogs to get ringworm if they're around other dogs or places that don't clean up dog poop like dog parks or Petco, doggy day cares etc.... We bring him to Petco, the breeder used to show him and had 3 other show dogs in her home, so it was going to happen. If it is her poop (lol it sounds like something I would do) they'll have you give her a de-worming medication to give to her today and the same pill 3 weeks later and you'll have to bring in another stool sample.

Yeah, bad idea! We keep a urine specimen cup in our 'dog box' (all of their meds and stuff are in it) so that we can grab fresh samples and refrigerate them before taking them to the vet if we don't already have a scheduled appointment. Maybe the vet could give you a sterile specimen cup to keep at home for the future just in case?

• There is a sushi place near me and they do sweet potato rolls and avacado rolls. They are so good. I could eat them daily. BF isn't that big into sushi so we don't go that often. I don't eat fish so I've never tried any of the raw fish stuff or california rolls.

Anniversary

I tried to get Tyler to eat a sweet potato roll and he just said 'all I can taste is the seaweed'. LIES. Seaweed just tastes like salt!

Tyler's palate only accepts beige food, so that purplish green seaweed is the enemy.

Love sweet potato rolls and avocado rolls. I also don't eat fish and still love getting sushi.
