Bridesmaids not wearing formal dress

I don't want my bridesmaids or groomsmen to pay money to wear formal wedding attire.  Is it ok to have the women wear a skirt or dress of their choice and the men to wear dresspants, tie and dress shirt instead of tux?  I would ask they dress in some shade of blue as my wedding color is cobalt blue.

Opinions?

Sure, anything you want! That'll look fine if you're doing a more casual wedding.

What does your dress look like, and what is your FI wearing? You guys can be a little more formal than them, but just be sure you're not a lot more formal otherwise it'll look odd.

Erm, if your FI is in a tux then I think the groomsmen will need suits. If not tuxes themselves.

What do you anticipate your guests wearing? Yoru bridal party should be dressed at least as nicely as they will, if not better.

It's really awesome of you to be concerned about their budgets, but I would just re-think the formality level. It won't be a disaster if the formality of the clothes doesn't sync up, but it'll look a little off.

  • If the groom is in a tux then the guys at least need suit jackets.

  • Check your PMs - I have two dresses you may want!
  • I think it's AWESOME that you are concerned about them - and if you are happy, that's all that matters. Yay for you being so sensitive to your friends needs!
