That's not how I remember it at all

Re: That's not how I remember it at all

  • Koda, we'd put sugar straight into the packet of Kool-aid and use our fingers as dip sticks for it.  I had dark red fingertips for most of my childhood.

  • I was creeped out going to my elementary school probably about 5 years ago. Those hallways seemed SO BIG when I was a kid. HUGE. Now? normal fuucking hallways.

I am laughing and agreeing with so many of your posts.

Something that is still as good as I remember? Kraft mac n'cheese. I still love it.
  • Suzi-Q's and Twinkies. My lunch in school most days was a Suzie-Q or dorito's.

I do find myself cringing when I watch some old movies of my day.

But, I still love my 70's music.

  • Kate - thanks.  I think I know what I'm having for dinner now.

KD - 70's music will always be good.  I've had to stop listening to what used to be my favorite classic rock station because apparently  Motley Crue and Poison are now considered classic rock.

I love them, but they are not classic. I listen to 70's all day at work and when I clean. I love all music, but I tend to lean towards R&B.

  • The Wonder Years. I rewatched a few seasons of it on Netflix (I'll throw it on when there's nothing else to watch), and I remember it being longer than a half hour per episode. It just seemed like so much would happen in each episode, so maybe that's why it seemed longer.

My world stopped for Power Rangers. It came on at 3pm, which is when I got out of school, so I'd race home and catch the last 15-20 minutes of it. Just because Tommy was hot, and I kinda had a thing for the pink ranger too. Even back then I knew it was kind of a lame show, but I recently caught it on tv, and it is the definition of awful.
We need to have a thread to show off how fashionable we all were in our younger years.  I used to crimp my hair.  Do you guys remember doing that?
    Posted by ILoveMilkDuds
no, but I had a BF that did.

Oh, and I just ate a marshmallow egg and it still tastes just as good as I remember.

  • I crimped my hair.  I also had the 3" high bangs.  Ugh.

Zingers are still just as good.  The Hostess pies are not.

This is all true.  I rocked the sky high bangs when I was a kid.  My FI found a picture not too long ago of said bangs, and laughed his a$$ off at me.  Thank God I have a picture of him with a mullet for leverage.

  • My first day of kindergarten, my mom let my older sisters dress me, and I had a crimped side ponytail. A red oversized Betty Boop t-shirt, red & white striped leggings, white Keds, and plastic red circle earrings. I was one fierce 5 year-old.

alynne - I watch Married With Children every morning on TBS before work. I love it still.

I bought the first season of 21 Jump Street a few months ago. It was most definitely not as good as I remember.

I was horrified when my co-worker had no idea what show I was talking about. Damn youngin's.

  • Salute Your Shorts and Hey Dude. I DVR'd some episodes and couldn't even make it through 5 minutes. It was awful. I still like SBTB, I have no clue why. The story lines are so predictable. I also still love Boy Meets World. That show never gets old. I do not miss stirrup pants. At all.

Yeah...that was me too...with a flannel shirt and a turtleneck...and LA Gear high-topped sneakers (only if they had three different sets of shoelaces in them though lol)...the pictures make me want to cry...
