Grooms Wedding Band

So my future father in law gave me his first wedding band to give to my fiancé on our wedding day. Only thing is his ring is in yellow gold and my engagement ring and wedding band is in white gold,.does it matter that our wedding bands wont match?

Re: Grooms Wedding Band

  • No, not really. But if it really bothers both of you and would not bother your FFIL, you could probably have it rhodium plated.
  • People have different tastes.  That's one of the things that make us "unique".  (Gah, I used the U word)   Just because you're married, doesn't mean you have to match. If  you like silver (white gold) and he likes gold, so what.  I know a ton of people who mix silver and gold on their own bodies and it's really NBD.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • My e-ring is platinum and I"m having a wedding band made to match my e-ring since it was custom mdae.... with that said... I also have my grandmother's wedding band which is yellow gold to use for the ceremony and I'm honored to have something of an heirloom to use for the wedding (especially since my gma has passed away a few years ago). You don't need to have it match, you can always layer and find other ones like rose gold which is what I plan on doing so I can wear the bands together If it's special to you then it's all the more reason to use it and not care that it doesn't match.

My rings are white gold, and FI has a tungsten wedding band.

  • No, I have a platinum engagement ring and will have the same for wedding band while my FI prefers rose gold. It is really his decision.
