September 2012 Weddings

Proof my invite!

Okay girls... we are thisclose to being ready to order invites. We're not having a formal wedding, I'd just like you to see if there's anything off and if you guys like the style. We're going to a rustic/vintage/outdoorsy kind of vibe (did I just make this up? lol!) Please note that the tree looks kind of crappy because it was just something FI did quick to see how we liked it and this is a bad picture all around because it's a print screen of Word. So hopefully you guys can add a little with your imaginations ;)

Re: Proof my invite!

  • I would probably try to make your font more consistent.  It seems a little choppy how it goes from one font style to another to another.  I really like the tree.  Also, if you have enough space, maybe drop "their adventures together" to the next line, so the alignment is a little neater.
  • I know it's a laid back vibe, but in my opinion I would word it to sound more like a ceremony invitation as opposed to saying "as they celebrate" because that sounds more like just a reception to me. Ours say "as they unite in marriage" but you can Google lots of other options that might be a little more casual - "as they tie the knot" or "as they exchange vows and celebrate their love". I would just include an actual reference to the ceremony since that's the important part! :)

I agree with both the prior posters about the fonts and the wording.

When I ordered invitations, it seemed like there were only 2 different fonts per card. One for the majority of the text, and one for your names. So I would suggest you pick two complimentary fonts and stick with them.

Also I have seen some wordings that made me question whether I was attending a ceremony or just reception.

This is what we chose for wording, its a little longer but I bet you can swap out your "begin their adventure" phrasing:

    Callmefia
    and
    Mr. Fia
invite you to share in the joy
    when they exchange marriage vows
and begin their new life together (or you can put "begin their adventure together")
on Saturday, the twenty-second of September
    Two thousand and twelve

Etc.... with the time, place, address, reception immediately following.

ETA: I LOVE the colors and the tree. Very creative and unique.
