Drew Brashler Photography

Has anyone used Drew Brashler for their photographer, or are planning to use him and his staff?  I e-mailed today to set up and appointment, and so far he is the only photographer in my price range that I am excited about.

I am using him!  I agree, he does really nice work and affordable.  We have our engagement session set up for Feb 14th.  So, once the photos are done, I will let you know my thoughts.  But, so far, we have been very impressed!  Good luck, let me know how your meeting goes!

Ooh yay!  I'm looking forward to hearing how that goes!  He hasn't e-mailed me back yet to set up an appointment, but I'm really excited to get going on picking a photographer.

Also, I just booked my florist this week... after we got everything done with the florist, she asked who we were using for some of the other vendors.  When I mentioned Drews name, she went off and could not say enough good things about him.  So, hopefully that is a good sign too!  Good Luck!

The only bad thing is you don't get the disc in his packages so you have to order all of your reprints and enlargements. I'm a disc girl myself!

His website says each package comes with a CD?  I'll have to make sure to specifically ask him.
  • edited December 2011
It may depend on your package.  I am getting the disk with my package this includes the wedding and the rehersal dinner pictures.  Also for 50 dollars he is giving me the disk with my engagement pictures on it.  This was the biggest thing for me, so I made sure I asked about it.  He was more than happy to make me a disk.  Double check with him, but I am sure he will do the same for you!

    Good Luck!

I think I may have read his website wrong:

"Complete Wedding Collections include at least 8 hours of coverage, digital proofs of all wedding images on DVD, and a print credit."

I assuming now that I've read it more closely that that does not include any image rights.  well, crap.

EDIT:  Well, now I'm all confused.

"Lastly, I give a DVD of all of the wedding images in a High-Resolution digital file. You get the reproduction rights so you can take this DVD to a photographic lab of your choice and get as many images printed as you want."

He needs to e-mail me back already so I can figure all of this out!

Hopefully he will email you back soon.  But, I can almost guarantee that you get the reproduction rights.  I went round and round and asked this question several different ways and he always said yes.

yes - you get the disk

    and

yes - you can reprint on you own.

He stated the reason for the print credit is that with the disk he will not edit every single picture that he takes.  He sends them all through photo shop, but that will not completely edit every image.  So, with the photo credit any image you get through him he will personally edit for things such as birthmarks and hair wisps.  Also, any image that you order through him that is 5x7 or larger is on ticker paper so it is ready to frame.

Here is an email that I sent to him before I signed the contract:

    Hey Drew-

Thanks for sending this over.  I just had a couple of questions after reading over the contract.  You may have addressed this already when we met, so, I am sorry if I have forgotten!

Are the high resolution digital proofs marked at all?
If I remember right, the digital proofs are not corrected and enhanced by you unless they were put into an album.  If this correct?
Is the copyright included with the digital proof disk so I can print them for my scrapbooking needs?
Rehearsal dinner coverage on the wedding disk?
Item R in the contract refers to 'Digital Negatives'.  Is there a difference between digital proofs and digital negatives?  If so, what are they.

Sorry for all the questions!  Thanks for all your help!

    This was his response:

    Not a problem.

The digital negatives referred to in Item R are the same thing as the digital proofs we spoke of. The rehearsal dinner coverage will be on the CD as well as the wedding. The proofs on the CD are edited for lighting, color, and clarity so they aren’t straight out of the camera. They are further edited for blemishes hair wisps, etc. for all prints and album images. The images on the CD are not marked at all with a logo or any watermark. You have full print rights to the images on the CD, but not copyright. Your ownership of the copyright would take all rights away from me to use or have the photos. The print rights you own to the images allow you to print the photos from home, or your local lab, as well as use the photos for personal use such as uploading them to facebook. The only thing you cannot do with the CD is sell the photos, or advertise with them.
I hope this answers all your questions. Let me know if there are any others.

    Drew

Hopefully that answers some of you questions in the mean time.  However, I hope he responds soon to your email as well!

I am so excited about this guy.  I think I may be a little too excited.

Thanks for all the info and help!

    Hey Kim,

One other thing that I would suggest is that you look at his reviews on Wedding Wire.  I have not been on there in a few months (we booked Drew in October/November) but, at that time, all of his reviews were great!

    Good Luck!

I just booked with Drew on Friday!
Like you, he was the only person in my price range that I was excited about.
I've been looking for photographers for a long time, and he is definitely one of the best I've found. He seems like a very down to earth guy, and really loves what he does. Not many photographers offer 8 hours, with 2 people taking pictures. My advice is to book quickly because it's unlikely you'll find another photographer of the same caliber for the prices he is offering. When I met with him, he told me that 3-4 other people had already contacted him about my date, and I lucked out by meeting with him first!

    Good luck!

I booked him too last week.  So hopefully he is as good as we all think!  He seemed very easy to get along with as well which is always good!

lcarp203:  I'm pretty sure I just looked at your e-pics on his blog and they are cuuute!

An update:  we met with Drew and a few other photogs, but I think he is still my favorite.  We will probably book with him soon.

Kim- yes they were mine labeled Michael and Lindsay.  Thanks for leaving us a comment!   We appreciate it!

If you book Drew I am sure you will not be disappointed!  I keep checking back with the blog just looking at the pictures!  He took about 300 in the 2 hour session and I cant wait to see the other 295 of them! LOL!

So I just started looking for photographers and saw this post.  Went to Drew's page and fell in love with his photo's and prices :).  Then I realized that md0412 and I are date twins - so I am out of luck.

Anyone else have other photo recommendations that were looking at Drew?  I've found Amanda at Memories through time that I may try to meet with soon.
