Some of these are ridiculous...plastic surgery for BMs? and some are just gross...bridal diapers? I don't care what you call it by...you are peeing in your pants in a wedding gown. That's a no.

Yeah... I've heard of bridal diapers. Now, I am in NO way suggesting that I'd wear one or that others should as well, but many dresses are intricate and require help for the bride to get into and out of. Some kind of game plan for peeing is definitely required. Other alternatives do exist (I've read about them on here), but I can see how someone maaaay think there was a market for diapers.

And, this was my favorite line in the whole thing: It sounds a little creepy but fear not, grooms̵, you'll be presented with the fruits of their labor — the boudoir book — on your wedding night, a constant reminder that your wifey got naked in front of another man right before she said, "I do." Hot.
• I heard about the Bridal Diapers on "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me'' I guess nothing should surprise me anymore- but seriously- Plastic surgery for the bms?!

I have now decided I must have life sized bridal cake, but I'm going to have it made based on my boudoir photos.
• It sounds like some insane mess of stuff that has grown out of the popularity of the ever more lavish, ever more over the top expensive wedding trends of the past few decades.

In the mid to late 80's still, when my friends were just starting to get married you still saw a lot of weddings here with the reception lunch in the church basement. The bach, IF there was one was hardly anything more than a bunch of girls getting together to head to the bars. No one "planned" it-there was not much to plan. Call up and say "hey want to come hang out out with the bride Saturday night?". The only thing that was as big or bigger were the showers, and it seemed like then no one showed up to a wedding empty handed. The cards had cash in them, and the gifts were usually generous.

Now, I think a lot of guests spend so much just to attend all this stuff and still get the plane tickets for your destination wedding, or buy the worthy of the Oscars dress for your very formal wedding, they do not feel like getting you a gift and you can hardly blame them.

Don't get me wrong, I am not criticizing. My own wedding plan started out being low key but went destination mini platinum (very small guest list). I am not a fan of wedding gifts in general and did not do any registries, etc. so not criticizing that trend, either.

It is just wow-when you hear about people requiring their BM's to have plastic surgery (what idiot would DO that?) and wearing dresses so elaborate they require diapers, you have to wonder if some people need to take the festivities down a notch and back to something more reasonable. When I come across stuff like this, those church basement receptions sound better.

I heard about the bridal diapers before, and I stil say: "wftbbq?!?!?!?!" when I think about it.

For the record, I had no desire to try figuring out going to the bathroom in my dress, so once I got my dress on, I just didn't pee until the dress came off for the night, lol. I can't imagine wearing a diaper would be so much more comfortable than just figuring out how to get the dress into a stall.

And the plastic surgery is nuts. Before the Knot, I really didn't know you could decline or drop out of a WP ... but if my BSC friend had requested a boob job, I would have told her to shove the ugly orange dress up her @$$. While I actually can believe some bride would be shallow and bitchy enough to make such a request, I can't seriously believe that anybody would be so insecure and stupid enough to go through with it.

• #7 made me throw up in my mouth.
• Cew, I'm with ya on #7. And the Diapers. And well, all of it. If you want a themed wedding, (I kinda had one) they can be tastefully done and not over the top.

• I hated #7 when I thought only one couple did it. The fact that it's now a "trend" makes me feel ashamed for humanity.

• The bach parties one surprised me - I thought phalic symbols and strippers was part of the "traditional" b party stuff. I thought the "new" stuff was getting away from that and doing spa days and wine tasting. My sister threw me a "traditional" b party (minus strippers) and I hated it - not at all what I wanted. Still trying to decide if I'm going to get her back with the same BS or give her what she actually wants.

And really? Are dogs in the WP that bad? Our pups are like our kids, and we certainly love them more than any other real kids in our lives (we don't have nieces and nephews). If your pet is well behaved, I see no problem with including them in the ceremony.

• Can't talk long, I'm having my dogs tail lengthened. His tail is a tiny bit too short for him to be flower dog, best dog and to perform the ceremony. I'm also taking him for vocal coaching. He'll need to be able to speak English and Spanish. It's myyyyyy wedding after all!

• Can you even imagine pissing in your diapers in a wedding dress? That is just unbelievably nasty. I gotta say though on a medical note, if you are wearing one of those really-hard-to-wiz in dresses, unless you are accustomed to going 4-6 hours without urinating and you do not get UTI's from it, holding it is asking for a UTI. Figuring out how to go while in the dress is a far better option for most people.

Ok. I already liked you. But your NPR reference made me love you.

• I see nothing wrong with having a Themed wedding. It is a celebration. Lots of celebrations have themes. I have the personal belief that people who don't enjoy novelty are joyless, and I feel sorry for them.

• Ha! I'm a total NPR junkie. Was just saying to my Dad how when I was a kid I HATED listening to NPR in the car with him... well now I'm addicted, just like he is. ;)

FI and I are planning to have his dog in the wedding ceremony, if she's still with us. She's older, comes everywhere with us, and even sits by the track when he's racing- super calm, sweet dog and part of how I fell in love with him. It's not for every dog/wedding, but if it works for you, why not? (She'll go home with the dogsitter after the ceremony).

B with my nephew- who learned to stand holding her fur and pulling himself up. Then he'd try to eat the fur he'd yanked out of her. ;)

• What is the problem with dogs in the wedding? My dog is my baby. I love her more then most people. If people don’t like her in the wedding then don’t come. She is far better behaved them some people. Now we are not putting her in a dress she will just have a bow around her neck.

• I actually don't get the dressing up dogs thing. Maybe it's because I have a child and I don't get the "my pets are my kids" thing, but, they're animals. I get that you love them, but, they aren't a person. I kind of roll my eyes at that one.
image
• Ha! Well, if B is in the wedding, I'll get a collar for her and glue some silk flowers onto it, and leave it at that.

I knit, though, and I have a shameful desire to get a small dog I can knit for. It DOES get cold enough to require outerwear for some dog breeds here. I wouldn't dress Blossom up- she's way too furry. I have considered painting her nails red, but FI put the kibosh on that. Can't say I really blame him. ;)
• I like it when dogs dress up for Halloween. I especially enjoy weiner dogs dressed as hot dogs.

I will get on board with the dressing up a dog for the cold thing. A friend of mine has a very small dog that gets the shakes if it's outside in the winter for more than 2 minutes.
image
• And Great Danes actaully have really thin skin/fine hair- if you have a Great Dane, and live somewhere cold, give it a coat when you go outside! If a dog doesn't have an "undercoat" it'll be just as cold as you are.

Thank you for not making fun of my desire to design knitwear for small dogs. Embarassed

• I'll admit, I did think about getting boudoir pics for Dh as a wedding present. He missed out on the college"sexy" version of me and has mostly only seen the working me or me at a heavier size. One night before booking I brought up "Hey hon, look at this. There's a thing called boudoir pics for your husband." He glanced at the website and was like "Yeah, how about I just look at you in person instead."
Ah well. I'm still tempted to get them done, just with clothes on, once I hit my weight loss goal.

Working at PetSmart really turned me off to people putting clothes on their dogs unless it was for necessity, like surgery or a whippet in the winter. We got so much stupid shiit that people were all excited about, and you tell the dogs just absolutely hated it.

One of my criteria for dresses was "Can I pee in this?" I'm really glad I thought about that too, because we got really lost on the way to the hotel and I ended up peeing in a Taco Bell all by myself.
• Mrs F- is there a photo of the Crawfish?! I'm dying to see it! We dress B up, too. As long as she can move around and get to snacks and the waterbowl, she's not fussed.

This year, I'm thinking I'll be red riding hood, Fi the woodsman, and we'll put a wig and glasses on the dog to be the wolf dressed as grandma.

Katie, I've been thinking about boudoir pics, too- but am pretty sure my fi's response will be the same as yours! :)

I agree some of the clothing for dogs goes overboard. I make sure Shadow can move in the costume, she can go to the bathroom and we only have her in it for a short time. One cool thing we did get for her to where was a life jacket and winter coat.

Knittibell the costume is actually a lobster. It is so close to a crawfish we went with it. Here is a like to some cute dog costumes.

• I did B-pics, too. I'm annoyed that they included it in the list.

a constant reminder that your wifey got naked in front of another man right before she said, "I do." Hot.

Right, b/c only men can be photographers. Undecided
• I am LOVING the lobster! Looking for one for Blossom. My mom (who Blossom loves and vice/versa) has been ill lately and in and out of hospitals/nursing homes- we can bring Blossom for visits when she's in the rehab home, and I think if she came in wearing a lobster costume (my mom's favorite food, she has one month, at least!), it would really cheer her up!
• I am sorry to hear about your mom good luck. I bet seeing Blossom would chee her up. Animals have a way of making people feel better.
• Thanks. I brought Blossom in to see her last week, and Mom was happy to see her, as were most of the residents. She was a HUGE hit. I love that the rehab place lets prople bring dogs in. B got right up on the bed with her for a snuggle

• We dressed Paisley and Clover up. Paisley actually doesn't mind clothes. If we pull out on of her shirts, she get excited and jumps up on the couch, like she would for her leash or car harness (yes, I prevent my dogs from being vehicular projectiles). Last Halloween, Clover was a ladybug and Paisley was a dragon. The year before, Paisley was a shark, DH made her costume.

I considered B-pics. I would still consider them for a 1st anniversary gift, but I don't think they're DH's thing. And I wouldn't have used my wedding photographer, either. I would have gone to someone else. I'm weird. I wouldn't want my wedding photog to have seen me in my skivvies looking all sexy. Kinda like how I won't go to my regular doc for an annual exam.
