i feel like my brain is melting - it took me forever to write parts 1 and 2.
Friday we went to the Mexican Market which was only a few blocks from our hotel. We saw a whole wall of Mayan porn tiles, which reminded us of WW. (I posted a pic of FB.) We didn't really buy much - most of the stores had a bunch of the same trinket type items.
Saturday we went to "Snake Farm / Animal World" in New Braunfuls (about 30 minutes NE of San Antonio) and then went to Greune ("Green"), TX for lunch and a bit of shopping. The highlight of Greune was a wine bar with free tastings. We bought a bottle and sat on the porch of the wine bar to share. It was a sweet red called something like "Purple Porpoise." Between the 1/2 bottle of wine, 100-ish temp, lack of regular drinking, and being somewhat dehydrated, i had a nice buzz walking around the town.
Sunday we went to the Alamo and walked around town a little. It was too hot to spend much time outside, so we walked around in the mall near the Alamo. (The Alamo actually DOES have a basement - it's not open to the public, but they have office space there.) We went to a bar/restaurant for dinner called Blue Star Brewing Co. - which is a local SA microbrewery. The food was great, and DK enjoyed his beer - we'd recommend it for anyone visiting town. It was a little off the beaten path - ouside of downtown, but still on the public transit routes.
We didn't make it to Luke or La Gloria ( Johnny Hernandez's restaurant) - but Wolverine was somewhat cranky and we didn't want to subject others to a side of cranky baby with their dinners. She's starting to get her first tooth (a molar!) so has been a little off.
