So the dry erase board was interesting, but I came across this the other day and the previous thread remined me of it:
Summary:
While on the tarmac: Airline steward had been told to F**k off by a passenger, he gets on the intercom, does the F-you to everyone, grabs a beer from the fridge in the galley, activates the emergency escape slide, and slides down with cold beer in hand!
THAT'S how to quit a job!

Re: S/O THIS is how to quit a job
After reading a little more carefully, I realized someone else already brought this up. Damn! lol
Oh well, here it is again!
I think he pretty much screwed himself out of ever getting another job with an airline.
I'm not necessarily taking a position on this because I don't know how I feel but I'm up for a discussion.

If only I had a window....
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
I made a bio?!?
And he got arrested, so screw himself a lot...
[QUOTE]I don't understand why the article has to make the point that he jumped into bed with his boyfriend immediately after getting home. I hate that stereotype.

ditto. I heard someone at my office say that yesterday and I was like "Does that have any relevance to the story?".

Yeah... the people in my newsroom would rather castrate themselves with a rusty machete than include random, unimportant and irrelevant details like that to a story.
Unfortunately lots of newsrooms go for shock factors. How did they even find that out? Who cares? And how is it anyone's business? While we're at it, how many times did they jump in bed this month? Or this year? Frick.

I so wanted to believe that was real.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. [QUOTE]I know we talked about this guy yesterday but I don't know if we talked about the charges he is facing...From what I read it sounds harsh b/c they are making <strong>a big deal about possibility that he could have injured someone by deploying the slide so my question is do we charge people for what they did or what could have happened? </strong> I'm not necessarily taking a position on this because I don't know how I feel but I'm up for a discussion.

<div>I didn't weigh in on this yesterday, but think I will now. The reason they are being so harsh on him, is because he's not a passenger. He is airline employee, who was explicitly trained on the use and consequences of deploying the slide. The emergency slide deploys explosively. There is the possibility of injuring ground crew, yes. However, the more likely possibility is killing ground crew. </div><div>
</div><div>I think they should be harsh on him. I think they should throw the freaking book at him. He pitched a hissy fit and tried to be all theatrical with his exit. What he did was knowingly endanger the lives of his coworkers. Reckless endangerment? Assault with a deadly weapon? These are real possibilities. Not to mention the pure monetary cost of his actions. The cost of reinstalling the slide. He willfully cost the company an astronomical amount of money in property damage. A plane full of folks had to be rescheduled, rerouted, or refunded their tickets.</div><div>
</div><div>Sorry, but I have no sympathy for this guy. There is precedence for charging folks for what did AND what could have happened.</div><div>
</div><div>ETA: Motherboard is giving out and I'm on my way to the Denver mac store to fix it. So, this is a post and run. Sorry.</div>

I did hear a news story yesterday that lots of his colleagues in the field understand where he's coming from - because flying has not only been more stressful on passengers since 9/11, but for flight crew as well. Apparently they are really stressed out and many of them feel like flying off the handle about things that happen on the job.
But then again - that's no excuse. I mean, I'd love to haul off and smack my boss and ask him to PLEASE brush his effing teeth because he constantly smells like he eats shiit sandwiches all day long. But hey, that's assault, and the bad breath comment is just bad form. If I wanna quit, I can just quit.
