Wedding dress question.

I tried on a dress over the weekend and really liked it in person and on me.  But when I got home and looked at the pictures of it, I didn't like the way it looked in the pictures.  It didn't look as pretty in the pictures as it did in person (the decorations didn't stand out much at all).
When you found THE DRESS, did you like it in person and in pictures?  We just had my cell phone camera instead of a real camera because we didn't plan on trying on dresses. It was a spur of the moment thing. I wonder if it would have looked better with a better camera.
I want to love MY dress in person and in pictures.  After all, after the day is over, the pictures will be all that's left.
Thanks

I am going to say if you thought it was THE DRESS in person you might be right.  But just for safety's sake, go and try it on again.  Take a real camera.  It hurts nothing to sleep on it.  A cell phone camera is not the best thing to look back on it with.  If you felt like that when you were there, you'll feel like that again when you put the dress back on, but that's just my two cents.

And as for the details of the dress not standing out and whatnot, your wedding photographer will make them look good and stand out.  But definately -- go back with a real camera and try it on again!

Pictures from my camera are not the greatest of my dress either.  I am supposed to get my bridals back this week from the photographer, so we'll see how a pro-camera captures it.  With mine, you really can't see the great detailing or anything, but everytime I put it on, I just KNOW it is the one and I love it more everytime I do have it on!

I had the same issue with a lot of dresses.  I think you get so excited to have a dress on that you in a way convince yourself that it looks perfect.  I tried on a bunch of dresses with my mom one day which we were really excited about, but when we got home and looked at the pictures, we were both disappointed.  You notice things that you didn't notice before in all the excitement.

I ended up not having that "this is the dress" moment.  I tried on a dress I really liked and found one that was very similar on the designers website that I liked better.  I ordered it from Pearls.  When it came in and I tried it on, my first thought was "ok, it looks good" followed by "thank god I never have to try on another wedding dress again".  I know I have the right dress and I really love it.  But that "this is the one" moment never happened.

I recommend keep looking.  I know it's hard b/c you want to have your dress.  But it took me 10 months to find the right dress.  I am so glad I didn't rush it or settle.  Looking at my dress now, it looks good both on me and in pictures.  I'm completely satisified.

for me, i saw how happy I was in the picture.  That's how I knew because I was  beaming ear to ear.

Mine looked odd in pictures when I first tried it on, mostly because I'm super short (accord to dress designers, apparently) and so the bodice was weird. I went with how I felt in it in person. I aggree with PP who said go back, try it on again and take a real camera. That will give you a better idea, and also some more time "with" the dress to see how it makes you feel.

    Good luck!

Thanks everyone.  I've got over a year before my wedding, so I have sometime to find the dress.  I really liked it but I didn't love it.  I will go back again definitely and try it on.

I'm still dress shopping too. It definitely helps to view the dress in pics after the appointment  You should feel good about the dress when viewing pics after the appt too...or at least, that's what I think!

I took pictures of all dresses and definitely went back to look at pictures and let that guide my decision. I want the dress to look good in pictures and also felt like I loved EVERYTHING in the store because the woman helping was so enthusiastic and I was so excited about dress shopping. Since you have some time, I definitely think you should wait for one that you love in person and in pictures!

I took pictures of mine too and THEY WERE AWFUL!!!  But what I had done before was I Googled the dress to see what it looked like when it was photographed at a real wedding and it was AMAZING so you might want to try that and see if anything comes up!
