Wedding Recap and Withdrawal

Reception Perception

Anyone have shots from their reception venue pre-guest arrival?

We held ours in a friend's backyard which had more than enough room for everyone! There were more tents (to the right) and the photo booth and food tables were on the left, but I love how the funky movie theater/pew seating welcomed people as they arrived, to represent a slide show which we'd show later on in the evening! Perfect weather + perfect outside arrangement + perfect help = perfect day!

Re: Reception Perception

  • Puppetrick, your venue sounds wonderful. Did you have a Plan B if it rained? I don't think I could live with the stress worrying about the weather for an entirely outdoor wedding. I stressed enough worrying about the weather for my outdoor ceremony, which I didn't get to have, despite crossing my fingers for months and praying to the weather gods.

I unfortunately don't have any photos pre-wedding guest arrival that shows off the space.

Beautiful pictures ladies! I can tell that your day was a beautiful one just from the pics! Below are mine; they are more "head table" pics with centerpiece and favor than they are the actual reception location:

Our venue was my parents' home/vineyard.

The only shots of the outside of the marquee have people inside:

Oh my gosh, oh-so-freaking-gorgeous all the venues are!! :)

No, I didn't have a plan B, 2Z728, b/c in eastern Washington in the summer, we RARELY get rain (it's deserty!), and I had been watching the forecast "just in case" for weeks prior - but we wanted something low-key and low-fuss (and easy to clean up!!), so we opted to make it pretty darn simple. I don't have a head-table by-itself pic, so I'm throwing in one of my husband and I - but it was part of a booth (my friend collects/buys old/vintage booths/pews/chairs, so that's what we had for the slide-show viewing) which my friends "gussied" up with some orange/pink tulle to make it different from the tents/tables for the guests.

Puppetrick, that makes much more sense now. I thought you were in Seattle, where as my understanding of the city is that it rains often.

We had rain for a good part of the day so unfortunately we couldn't get as many pictures of the grounds of the country club where our wedding took place. Since I don't have any photos that show the venue space totally empty, I have some that show other details of the reception.

I don't have any pics of our venue setup without people in them but I do have pics of our venue before and after!

    Before:
    After:
    The outside, with tent

Our card, escort cards, guest poster table

    the centerpieces
Out on the tented patio at the end of the night. That's where our buffet and bar were.

    I loved our venue

random4180, that's amazing how your venue transformed for your wedding! It's so much more vibrant and alive.

    Here's our ceremony space:

(Yes, we were that horrible couple that made most of our guests stand. My only major etiquette no-no, but the venue wouldn't allow more than 20 chairs. There were benches just outside this picture though, for those without a seat that needed them.)

    Our reception location:

That's a tank of sharks in the middle of our tables. Boo-ya.

    And our headtable!

LOVE your pics! And I DID live in Seattle for 20 years, but now I'm on the eastern side :) (I still miss the incessant rain, but at least we have all 4 seasons here!! :))  Again, I love your pics! I would have loved an "almost raining" shot with the clouds and such like your pic! :)
  • Moonlightsilver, I had standing guests too; only had 50 chairs and the ceremony space was on the smaller side.  My ceremony was like 10 minutes though.

I took pics after we decorated but it's missing the final touches (centerpieces).  I'll have to post once I download the pics.

  • We had the reception in the same venue as our ceremony. It's Henry Ford's first Model T factory in Detroit, MI which has recently been converted into a Model T museum.

We loved how unique the space was.

  • We had a casual reception in my parents' backyard, followed by a second, more formal reception in the city where H and I live. Here's the first venue:

    And here's our second venue:

This is the entrance, where we set up a photo booth.
