Not Engaged Yet

TIL there's such a thing as a "single bridezilla"

Not sure if this is a repost, forgive me if it is. I resolved to waste less time on the internet and therefore I'm a bit out of the loop.

http://living.msn.com/love-relationships/weddings/single-bridezillas-3

This BSC article mentions NEY and I thought some of you might find it interesting. If any of those women actually tried to discuss what they're doing on this board I would have to pull up a lawn chair, grab a bowl of popcorn and watch the flames fly! :)

  • Yes, they have spammed this board looking to cast people.
    I'm not good at feelings.

That one made me laugh so hard! I'm trying to imagine a grown ass woman fantasizing about a lame, fictional, teenage BS wedding and I just can't. Just.....no....
  • WTF? Who the hell is Sarah Bush? I pretty sure if she were here she wouldn't feel less weird about her BSC.

Also, It really irritates me that this writer chose to write about this board obviously without actually reading what goes on. It's just lazy.

  • I was unaware the regulars did this "Not Engaged Yet (a board for single women and those in relationships to vent about the frustrations of not being engaged)"

Sarah Bush, come out come out wherever you are!

  • Wow.  That is so sad.  I liked your post Yaga.

Haha...I actually originally wrote the post using the word "reporter" instead of "writer" but decided that they aren't actually a reporter.

Poor reporting is a pet peeve of mine.

    WTF is this nonsense.

I think all the writer did (if they even went this far) was to read the horrible, horrible tagline for this board, but not actually the board itself. And something tells me our "regular" hasn't spent much time on this board at all. Our view on pre-planning is pretty loud.
  • I'm so irritated - I can't read the posts in the link!!  Silly Hawaiian internet connection at the hotel is slow & a lot of pages won't load.  Who is this Sarah Bush person though and what did she post?  Fill me in!!
  • Well Meg, according to this poorly researched article on BSC single women, Sarah Bush is a regular on this board who gets lots of emotional support from us while pre-planning her wedding.
    :P

  • Holy crap! This is crazy! I have actually seen a few mentions of NEY by a few bloggers here and there who were planning their weddings and active on their month boards (or other boards) refer to this board as "women planning their whole wedding when they aren't even engaged yet" Honestly, it irked me then and it irks me now. Likely, they just did a drive by of the board, read the descriptions (UGGG!!! Lame that we can't change it, they change descriptions and add boards on the bump ALL. THE. TIME. Yes, I lurk) and decide that we're all BSC and planning our weddings.

But I am intrigued. Who is this person. I know a lot of you know each others real name (via FB or whatever) and I am not friends w/anyone through that, but I'm pretty open about my name. So, I'm not her. But I'm interested....so, so interested!
  • 1) Sarah, come come out wherever you are!

    2) While the article was poorly written and researched, it did bring up one interesting point- Women go BSC and preplan to feel more 'in control'/ or secure in what they perceive as a situation that is out of their hands.  Society tells us that we should be totally surprised by a proposal, and that some how talking about time lines/ life goals/ 'the future' is going to ruin that surprise. So otherwise normal women turn BSC and pre plan in order to feel in control of some small aspect of this huge Wedding/Marriage thing that we are told we need to do to ensure our Lasting Happiness.  I know that my BSCness is directly related to my 'when is it my turn' feelings. When BF and I are good, I could give a rats butt about when/ if we are getting married.

    3) The woman who wants the Twilight wedding is insane.

HAHAHAHAAA!!!  Yeah right!!  I think we all know that NOBODY here would encourage pre-planning.  I don't know of one regular poster who would hand out emotional support for that kind of behavior!!

P.S. - thanks for filling me in!

<div>This is a good point. I sometimes find my frustrations stemming from this as well. It's not that I'm in a rush to get married. But when I was single in my mid-late 20's before I met SO, almost all of my friends were getting married. It really brought up some of my insecurities. A "what's wrong with me" feeling that they could find love and no one wanted me. It's not a great place to be. I went to therapy and law school in the meantime, and met someone online who I love with all my heart now. Who knows, though, I could have easily planned my fantasy wedding instead.</div><div>
</div><div>And the more I think about the description of this board, the more I think the Knot just doesn't want to change it (not that they can't). It's a business decision for them. The more BSC girls come on here and post PSA's about "OMG 50% of these wedding favors! Get them NOW" and the more women stock up on this stuff, single or not, the more money they make. I'm pretty sure the knot Gods are just hoping we all get married and get the hell off this board so a group of girls much more forgiving of the BSC-ness can come on and take over. It's just more money for them that way.</div>

Agreed! I don't think Sarah exists, and I think E and SB also beat us in terms of traffic. I don't read WW, so I can't comment on their traffic.

If Sarah is real, then she's probably a BSCer who called us a buch of meanie heads before GBCKing.
  • WW doesn't have that much traffic, I mean there is traffic but I think we are a pretty slow board compaired to SB and E and CC.
