Catholic Church Recomendations...Blackwood, Washington Twp area

Hi all,

I'm new to these board. We got engaged back in May and are starting to look for Venues & Churchs. We are leaning towards Valleybrook in Blackwood, they had one April 2011 date left when we went. I'm just hoping it's still available when I call on Monday. But now we need to find a church nearby.

Any recommendations? We were talking about checking out St. Agnes in Blackwood, Holy Family in Sewel or Queen of Peace in Pitman. We are both registered at Incarnation in Manuta, however, do not want to have the wedding there since my first wedding was there years ago.

Thanks for your advice :)

I grew up right around the corner from Holy Family, we aren't religious, but I've been to a few services there. From what I've seen its a really nice church. It was definately where most of my friends went growing up. My neighbors still go there regularly, I'm assuming they really like it. Idk if that helps :)

St Charles Borromeo off of Johnson Road in Turnersville/Washington Twp maybe? That is where we are getting married next July...it has tall ceilings and nice grounds for pics and whatnot

The church in Gloucester City is St. Mary's, my fiance's parish, and it IS beautilful!

We, however, and getting married at my parish, in Washington Township, called St. Charles Borromeo. It's in the Whitman Square area off Johnson Rd.

I'm getting married at Christ the King in Haddonfield.  Gorgeous older church.  Holy Family is nice but theyre fees are outrageous and they have sooo many rules!  I'm also not crazy about the newer contemporary look in churches but if that's for you, then I have to admit it is quite nice.  St. Agnes is in Blackwood and is a large church.  There's also St. Teresa's in Runnemede which isn't too far from Valleybrook.

Thanks for all the suggestions!! :)  I decided not to go for St. Agnes after reading some rants on the boards... plus I think I would feel sad walking down the isle of what looks like an empty church.

Our Lady Queen of Peace in Pitman was just so rude to us. I called Our Lady of Lourdes in Glassboro, they were nice on the phone and she actually transferred me to the Priest to setup an appointment for next Tuesday. I hope he will do the day that we want. It's the only date in April that the venue is avail.

The fees are just driving me nuts for the church. It just seem too expensive since it doesn't even include precana and donations to the priest. We are going to register this week...but I figure we will get the non parisher rate of $700.

If things don't work out...I have a feeling I will be calling a lot of churches. I hope that we don't have to listen to too much of a lecture about living together.... this is all a little nerve wrecking for me.

My daughter was married this past Saturday at Our Lady of Hope Parish
(formally St Agnes) and everyone that attended the wedding said the church was so beautiful and the pictures showing the altar were gorgeous. It made a wonderful background especially with the bridal party photos as well as the family portraits.
