Good band for reception

Anyone have any recommendations for a great wedding band? I'd like a group really upbeat and who can play a diverse selection of music to please all ages.  I really want everyone to be up and dancing all night so the band will be key! Also - how much does a good band cost?

We are having a jazz/klezmer band for our ceremony and cocktail hour. There are 3 players (keyboards, clarinet, and violin) and they are playing for 2.5 hours (I think- I would need to double check the contract but it may be 3 hours). We are paying $1200 for that. I hope that gives you a baseline for how much bands cost.

We had Orchestra 33 for our wedding and loved them.  They play such a diverse range of music, everything from Sinatra and MoTown to classic rock and current pop hits.  They particularly do a great version of the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feelin".  All our guests raved about the band and the dance floor was packed the entire night.  Orchestra 33 does a great job of interacting with the crowd and figuring out the type of music to play for each group.

We paid $5500 for nine musicians.  When we were looking around, good bands of that size started around $4000 and went all the way up to $10,000.

PM me if you want contact info or more details.

I would HIGHLY recommend the Dan Hayes Orchestra or the Peter Hennes Orchestra.  I've seen both play at weddings, and both dance floors were packed the entire night!  We are having Dan Hayes play at our wedding.  We basically just went with who gave us the better price for the night because our wedding is on New Year's Eve.  Peter Hennes raised his prices for the night while Dan Hayes did not.  For a string quartet for the ceremony, a jazz trio for the cocktail hour (which is actually 90 minutes), and for 5 hours of dinner/dancing the cost was $13,500.  I know they are on the higher end, but this is one thing that we knew we wanted to splurge on because live entertainment was one of the most important things to us for our wedding day.

We hired Maggie Speaks for our reception. They are an awesome cover band that plays a huge selection of music from Abba to Black Eyed Peas, Train, etc. They also have two other bands that are their "spin offs" that are less expensive - Spoken Four and Final Say. We had a really hard time deciding between all of them but we decided to spend the money and go for Maggie Speaks. Everyone had such a great time  and we kept getting all kinds of compliments on the music. I believe they are about $6,000 or so.
