  • Eh.  I have a hard time caring.  I'm way too cynical I guess.

Though, I can't imagine ever using it.

That is seriously one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. Well, I mean not for them. If they make any money off it at all it's a success. But god, will you offend some people!

  • Gag.

*I felt sorry for my husband before I met him. Take a number.*

  • What the what?

Look, I'm not a fan but not, not a fan either.  I am Switzerland when it comes to choosing which canidate to back because honestly I don't feel like any politician in America is really and truly looking out for the American people.

I have to agree with Joan Rivers who was on a talk show a few weeks back and asked about the presedential elections.  She basically said that it is disgusting just how much money is raised and then spent on campaigning and basically talking sh*t about the other canidate.  She believes that our presedential elections should be like that of the prime minister of England, only 6 months to campaign and then the election, because 2 years of campaigning is ridiculous.

All the money that is made from campaigning and donations (millions upon millions) would be much better utilized either paying off some debt that our country owes, helping the homeless, helping our war vets, feeding starving children (here in our own country not in a third world country), helping the jobless, just helping our country in general.  But no, they use all of this money to make commercials and charter private planes to fly around the country basically saying nothing but how the other guy sucks.

Ugh, sorry, this just hit a nerve.  Boom, done.

  • They shoud make the presidential pissing contest about how much money they can contribute to the greater good of the nation, not to their campaign.  That is a pissing contest I could support.

This just makes me want to gag.

Unless you knew for a 100% complete fact that your entire guest list shared the same political views as you, the potential for offending is HUGE. And even if it didn't offend, it's still tacky.

Sort of related - my boss just asked me to research crowdfunding as a fundraising tactic.  One of the sites suggests that one should crowdfund to raise money for a wedding ring.

    WTF
  • Well, if I ever got invited to a wedidng with that as the registry, I'd be happy that I didn't have to spend money on a presesnt and wouldn't feel a bit guilty about it.

    Geeeeez.
  • Unless the event is a political fundraiser, I can't see this going over well. I have friends and family that would take one look at that then donate money to Romney. They'd then give me a Romney card thanking me for my support.

  • Seriously....since when is a president supposed to be a pop icon and trendy? When I am listening to Pandora I do not need to be interrupted by an ad campaign to raise money for him. Needless to say if I was invited to a wedding that was registered to that site,  I would buy them a toaster with a GOP sticker on the side.

I see your GOP toaster and raise you a R3VOLUTION toaster with the Libertarian hawk on the other side.

Then I would enclose a card with the pamphlet why Friends dont let friends vote for Obama with my receipt for my campaign contribution to Ron Paul.

Seriously, if one of my friends did this, I would hope it would be to ruffle my feathers. I am a political analyst and commentator and they love to fire me up.

I distinctly remember just as annoying of ads from the unions before Citizen's United. The SEIU interupted my morning mashup every morning.

  • My grandfather would have a heart attack... As would most of my family in Texas.  Fast way to get disowned save for maybe an athiest organization fund registry.
  • Wow, new low for politics. Whatever marketing guru came up with this should be hung by his toenails.

'Hey guests! Come to our wedding! We expect a gift, of course. Cash. Sent to the politician WE support. To hell with your poitical inclinatios; it's OUR wedding!'

Nice. Let's see, we've got money and poitics in there. If they could throw in a little religion, they'd have hit the big three basic social faux pas on what NOT to discuss.
