Good morning!

How's everyone doing today?  What are your plans?

I'm waiting for DH to wake up and really, really hoping he's not still sick when he does.  I want to get out of the apt today and I want him to be able to come with me to run errands.  And I really want to take down the tree because it's driving me bonkers and I need him to carry it out to the curb.

Re: Good morning!

  • Well, good morning! I feel about 234240238498209809842093 times better today than I did yesterday.

We're going to go see Avatar in 3D today. So excited.

  • I can't believe how quickly everything is moving for you, Mag.  I would totally want someone there with me to get that big cashier's check.

Poor DH has been trying to go see Avatar ever since it came out.  He even bought a ticket to see it Thursday and then got sick.  Maybe he can go tomorrow while I nap or something.  I can't go see 3D movies like that because they give me a migraine.
  • Good morning lovelies! Ben is still begging me to see Avatar, but I just can bring myself to take him yet. If anything, we might take him once the crowds have died down, but I'm just really hoping that he'll forget about it.

I'm thinking about taking him to Sciworks today. It's like a science museum-y place for kids. It's either that or bundling him up and taking him to the park.

And I'm super excited because I get to go see Bec and Heels again tomorrow.
  • I'm working today, on my B-day no less. I may go out tonight, i'm not sure yet.
  • Morning !!

I have the day off.  I  right now I am doing games on sporcle.com.  I'm such a bad speller that it take me way too long to do the state capitals.

I plan on going to for a walk on the beach later, doing laundry, maybe cleaning the house?

Tonight DH is making me go out to dinner with some resort guests.  My no drinking in January will come to an end tonight because I really do not think I can have dinner with these guests without alcohol.  The wife is a little nutty.   Good news, dinner is at DH's that means SUSHI...

  • HI CEW!!!  How're things?

I wonder how much longer McD's will be doing the Avatar stuff.  Do you think Ben will forget about it once that reminder is gone?

I vote for Sciworks.  And I would like to come down and join you and crash your fun GTG tomorrow.  Could you guys actually take pictures this time so there's proof of the group hotness?
  • Happy Birthday, Suedoe!

Lynda - You gotta drink in that situation.  Totally jealous of the sushi dinner, btw.
  • Man, I'm glad some other people finally woke up!  Seems like I missed a lot last night.....

Today, we're just going to start our clean up and get ready process.  We leave to go to  Sweden on Monday morning at 4am, so need to have everything done by tomorrow night.  Bleh.

I don't know. I hope they end it soon. Or I could just stop taking him to McDs, which would probably be for the best anyway. :)

Please do come down and crash. A little bit of Julez would make the day complete. We actually did take pictures last time, but I looked like hell, so I'm kind of glad they weren't posted. :)
  • Amoro - What all are you guys doing in Sweden this trip?  I know you mentioned you guys might move there.  Are you going to check things out to see if you want to or is that totally determined by DH's company?
  • Good morning, all. Today is laundry day, since in my absence my husband seems to have totally forgotten how the process works. It's a rather chilly 24 F (what is that, about a -4C?) and sunny out there, yet it is snowing. Granted, I'm not a meteorologist, but I don't understand how snow can come down from an almost cloudless sky. Wierd.
  • Oh. And we watched Paranomal Activity last night. That is once scary fucking movie. We had to rent the Hangover afterwards just to clense our tv of the demon.
  • I will have you all know that it's NEGATIVE THIRTY DEGREES Farenheit, negative 56 with the windchill.

    Fuckmerunning.

You have know idea.  They are the last 2 guests left of a family of 12 who come down here every year for xmas for 13 days.  They spend EVERY meal at the resort.  Their meal ticket can be a foot long they are all so picky about food.  The insist on the same table at one of the restuarants and only DH can take their order.   Actually they are the one of the reasons DH has not had a day or night off in 13 days, even though he has a hole in his leg from an infection.

For the life of me I can  not imagine why DH wanted to have dinner with them.   They kept insisting all week, but I just made up excuses that I'm not allow (I'm not really allowed to have dinner with resort guests - outside of family).  They ask the GM himself and said of course I will give permission for her to have dinner with you...

    Ugh.

The sushi will make up for it I'm sure.  The sushi guys love to suck up to Chef's wife.

I have no clue what that even feels like.  I feel pretty stupid for being 'cold' on last night trip when it was about 70 degrees out.

  • Well, when you step outside, it's kind of like a million little pins hit you in the face and all of your breath is taken out of your lungs and diaphragm.

Your tears freeze to your eyeballs, and you get snotcicles in your nose.

If you go outside with wet hair it WILL freeze and break off.

    It's quite horrible, actually.

  • Sara - I don't think your H would be a man if he actually remembered how to do the laundry while you were gone.

Cew - For some reason, Paranormal Activity didn't really scare me.  It scared me a little while we watched it but it didn't stay with me afterwards.  I was surprised because normally I'm a total wuss.

Lynda - Whoa.  Those are intense people.  Do they give your DH a huge tip at the end of all of this nonsense or is he not allowed to take tips since he's the chef?
  • Sara - I don't think your H would be a man if he actually remembered how to do the laundry while you were gone.

This is not true. Just because you have a penis, does not mean that you get a free pass to do jackschit. If his brain works, so should the washing machine.

  • It was kind of the opposite for me, Julez. Movies scare me, but I never really think about them once they go off. This one was different. I kept waking up last night assuming FI was standing next to my bed just staring at me. I kept hearing bumps in the night. It was awful. I felt like the worlds biggest puss.

::taking mental note::  Do not visit Fargo in the winter.

I'm so sorry fischy, that sounds awful.

  • Wow Fishy... -30... so you're staying inside today as much as possible?

My goal for the day is to balance my checkbook and take down and put away the Christmas decorations.  FI has been talking about going to Toledo to see some friends of ours tomorrow for the last week, but now he is saying we might not go... after I didn't make any plans and held the day open etc etc... argh.
  • Yeah, I can't recommend visits in Fargo from December until April.

Oh no, we'll go about our normal day. It's pretty much this cold all winter so if we stayed in whenever it was this cold, we'd never go anywhere.

    Ditto 233400598382004  times.

My DH can do the laundry without me.  He doesn't like to, but he will do it.

julez - He is allowed to take tips if in cash.  DH normally gives some to his other chefs or cooks who help out.  As far as this party,  last year they game hime $300 tip.  Nothing this year, yet.   Grandpa pays for the bulk of  everything and he is leaving today, so we will see.

  • My brother was working up in North Dakota last winter, near the Montana/Canada borders... he would text me with how cold it was. Sounds brutal.  In WI we would get -10 or -20 sometimes, but not often.  Now that I'm in the "south" of Cleveland, we rarely get below 0 (maybe about a week in February) but it's supposed to be in the 20's and snow every day for the next week.

I'll give him a pass on this one, Fischey, since most of the laundry has been generated by my children since we got home, he's been working 12 hour days, AND he steam-cleaned the laundry room when we were gone.
  • My DH can't remember to take in the laundry even when I'm here reminding him 10 minutes before he leaves for work.

Loopy - Wanna race to see who gets the Xmas decorations put away first?

Well, H has to take part in the interview process for his old job, and then we're going to hopefully see a bit of the country.  I would really like to go to Stockholm.  I also think we're going to discuss more about the move.
  • Ha... Julez - I'll race only if you tell me you are as much of a procrastinator as I am.  I will probably eat something and finish perusing yesterdays posts on here before I even think about starting the xmas clean up.
  • I'm here! Feeling better this morning (slightly) because the scab on by throat-hangy-ball (uvula) finally came off (TMI, I know)....but--it's great being able to breathe/swollow without feeling like I had something lodged in my throat.

And I'm going to grab coffee with a friend in a bit....I haven't had coffee in.for.ever!
