FINALLY!! A wedding date, and a venue booked!

Finally! After months of looking and some heartbreak, we have a venue! Since we have a venue, we set a date!

We're getting married at Pilgrim Lodge in West Gardiner Maine. It has a beautiful indoor area for the reception, and an absolutely amazing outdoor chapel. FI's family has been involved in the camp for over 20 years; they only allow weddings for families that are deeply entrenched in the camp.

I'm excited about the wedding again, now that this major decision is made.

My DH is jealous! He grew up going to church camp there.

Ross is 28, and went to PL from hmm, around 1990 to 2000. It's possible they crossed paths?

We also volunteer there for a week each summer. I can't wait to tell the kids during Senior Week in July that we're getting married there. It's a physically and sometimes emotionally draining week (not to mention, financially - we're servers and it eats up two weekends and the week between), but it's just so satisfying. In a country where more and more kids are brought up to be entitled little snots, these kids are among the cream off the crop. They're smart, funny, and they genuinely care. I was literally dragged into counseling (they couldn't find anyone to fill the last female counselor position), but I'm so glad.

okay, I'll get off my soapbox now!

As a complete sidebar, can anyone tell me how to make shortcuts to the boards I frequent?

Yay, exciting! It looks beautiful! The pics remind me of a wedding I saw featured in Brides. So, what is your date? I didn't see that mentioned, although for some reason for me the text in your post is appearing underneath the ads on the right, so I couldn't read the whole thing...

Congrats! That's a big weight lifted off your shoulders, I'm sure!

It's a Thursday, which is weird, I know, but I didn't want to mess with any of the already scheduled retreats.

It's a beautiful setting.
