New English Translation of Ordinary Form

As requested:

This Advent, all masses said in English should be conforming to a revised translation of the missal. This "new" translation is apparently very similar to what was used immediately when masses changed from Latin to vernacular, which was then changed to what we have currently. (I'm not positive of the history)  It is a more direct translation from the Latin mass.

I've read editorials from both extreme sides about this. I'm not intending to begin a debate or argument about the whole thing, just sending out info.

I believe most, if not all, parishes will have thick cards in the pews with the new parts in them so we can all read along till it becomes 2nd nature again.

    I think I've said this before, but it sounds more like the Eastern responses now. Maybe I'll check out a Roman church sometime soon.

    Well, apparently, all the other languages translations already say this. (I don't know any other languages, but I know that the Spanish translation is "and with your spirit).

    This will begin the first Sunday of Advent this year.

    <div>I agree, the Catholic Byzantine Liturgy I went to is in English and they already use this wording that the Roman Catholics are now incorporating.  It's also interesting that as a Vietnamese Latin Rite Catholic, the Masses said in Vietnamese already incorporate this wording.</div><div>

    </div><div>About that second reason, near the end of his pontificate, Pope John Paul II had noticed that the English speaking Latin Rite churches had different wordings and he mentioned it.  That started the translation movement in the last 10 or so years.  The Mass in the USA was said a little differently than the Mass in Austrailia or Ireland.  Hopefully it won't be like this after this year.</div><div>
    </div><div>My parish has published FAQ in the bulletin about this, and as a liturgical minister, I went to retreats to get ready.  Like agapecarrie said, just watch for those cards in your pews.  Those will be available for everyone across dioceses in the USA.</div>
