March 2012 Weddings

after lurking...

on the Jan and Feb board, I have come to the conclusion that Ambien will be my best friend for the next month. LOL. These girls are talking about how the stress and planning is keeping them awake nightly or it's waking them up thinking about it. I already have problems sleeping, so I don't need more reasons!

The problem I'm going to have is that FI has said in the last few weeks when I take Ambien, I have been talking in my sleep. Coherent words, but not thoughts. Haha. I have no idea why this started (Stress?) but I've never talked in my sleep before. So it's either stay up all night worrying or having FI awake all night with my talking. I have come to the conclusion that I need my sleep to keep my sanity and he will just have to sleep on the couch if he doesn't like it... Laughing

  • Oh, I can totally see this happening. My hotel is giving me fits... UGH!

The funny thing is the normal stresses (high-maintenance guests, little details) aren't bothering me at all.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • Well this could get bad, I already have issues with sleep so this should be lovely. I often time can't turn my mind off (as I call it) I will lay n bed with my mind racing about all kinds of things. I am sure as we get closer it will be running with list of things that need to be done and all the small stuff. Maybe a glass of wine a night will help...lol

  • If its one thing I've learned in nursing school is don't listen to what other people say!! The only people who can't cut it at things are the weak ones. I'm sure that as long as your normal and you don't procrastinate then you will be fine! The strong survive.

If anything keeps me up it will be pure excitement!

It's not so much procrastination that's a problem (I'm pretty on top of things) and other people's opinions (I could care less), it's that I am a perfectionist and I will be thinking of all the ways I could have done something different or something else I may decide I want to do. It's all in my head, not coming from other people. The hard part it that it's a destination wedding and you just never know what could happen (or what could be left behind) when you're 9 hours from home. It will def be excitement when it gets closer and I need to sleep! lol. Like I mentioned before, I've always had insomnia, but not sure why. As a girl on the Feb board pointed out - I don't want to look like crap on my wedding day from lack of sleep leading up to it. haha.

  • Last night I woke up out of a sound sleep babbling about table clothes of all things!

  • I know that it has a different effect on everybody but when I really need to sleep I take Nyquil. That stuff knocks me out. And I love it. lol.
  • Haha! Nyquil does nothing for me. FI takes a benadryl & it knocks him out. Nothing works for me but Ambien...

  • Oh I was going to suggest Benadryl... too bad it doesn't work for you.  I'm allergic to something that's blooming in town right now so I take a Benadryl at night and I am OUT!  I love it!  But I'm not a huge fan of  taking meds when I don't need them so as soon as my allergies die down I'll stop taking the Benadryl.  :(

My other de-stressing solution thus far has been wine.  I'm really not much of a drinker... I only drink hard alcohol in social situations like weddings and birthdays and will only drink wine when my FFIL buys it for me... and lately he's been buying it for me A LOT.  I think he's realized that when I've had a glass of wine I'm a lot nicer and less cranky.  Haha!   But I won't complain as long as he keeps bringing home the good stuff!

I believe in a lot of things. I believe in fresh tennis balls, the healing power of bunnies, and that the novels of Susan Sontag are something I'll never read. In fact, I don't even know who Susan Sontag is. What is she... like... a painter? I believe in Crystal Lite because I believe in ME. I believe in the movies of Val Kilmer, though these days it ain't so easy. I believe in Darren Sproles, the word "dabble", the first season of "Silk Stockings", and big, warm, moist, gooey chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth and all over your face.
