It's Monday

and I'm feeling it.

I've had migraines all weekend ;/ So i feel like I haven't slept at all :(

We did however go put down the deposit and sign all the paperwork for the house, we go back next weekend to pick out the granite and cabinents and such! I'm excited.

Re: It's Monday

  • Yay for home building (boo for migranes)!

I'm soooo sick of crappy internet service at home. We couldn't even check our emails this weekend, and we're paying a fortune for nothing! Because there aren't enough slots for everyone to have high speed, we're stuck using a turbo hub. That's fine when the cell towers aren't active (which is typically between 5-7 am - that's when FI checks his messages and does his online stuff), but this morning he couldn't even check his email at 6am. Crazy!

And I really wanted a snow day. We had a storm yesterday, but it didn't carry over. There's more on the way, so I'm hoping for one tomorrow. I have to have hope!

    Happy Monday!

  • I wish we had "rain days" I don't do well with snow, but rain days would be nice-

    What is a turbo hub?

  • I wish we had snow days too. My car does so bad in the snow.. They didn't plow our parking area at work because while some of this place is under construction its still gravel.. but that just means I slide allll over..

    Yay for your house!

  • Good morning ladies! Tons of rain here, which makes for a rough Monday morning! I just realized that I have to be up early everyday his week, something I try to avoid, I get a lot done on my late start mornings. Soi'm trying to stay motivated! Have a great morning!

  • Good morning.

I'm procrastinating this morning because it's still icy out and I haven't driven this car after a snowstorm yet.  I'm really nervous about sliding into someone.  Hopefully the roads will be clear once I get out of the neighborhood.

  • Good morning! It it supposed to rain here today as well and then cool down tonight. I need to finish Christmas shopping today for my family since we are going to have "Christmas" this coming weekend.

  • Brittany - So excited for your home plans!!! It seems like everything is happening so fast!

And yikes for everyone having internet problems.

I'm still recovering from our awesome Hipster Christmas party Saturday night (I put up a picture in the Sunday thread).
H and I are having our family Christmas tonight. I have a feeling my big present is tickets somewhere because he told me to stay completely free tomorrow night as well, and that's why we're doing it so early. Whatever :)

We have somethnig every night this week and I love it!

We seldom get snow days. We're more likely to get 'cold' days. It has to be -45C for the primary to close, -45 for the middle school and -50 for us at the high school. The last time we had a snow day was because the bus depot wasn't cleared out.

A turbo hub is internet that runs off the cell towers. It's typically used for people at the cottage. It worked great for us this summer when we were traveling, but it's awful here in town because there are so many of us that can't get regular internet and we have to rely on it for our home phone and internet connection. The more people that are using it, the slower the service. On really bad days, we can't make or receive phone calls either. I've been talking to DS on the phone and gotten cut off. Things like Netflix and Skype are totally out of the question.

That seems very inefficient, you can't get actual internet/phone connection through somewhere like verizon or something? (sorry if i sound completely clueless, i've just never heard of that before!)

  • OH Brittany, that is sooo exciting! I'm jealous your building a home. Our house was built in 1931 and definitely looks like it, haha. If I have to stare at our pink plastic tiled bathroom another year I will have a freaking aneurysm.

    I have doggy Santa pictures!

That's Griswold, FI and I's crazy chocolate lab.

There's Griz on Santa's lap again. Then the Black lab is Pete and the yellow is Hayley. Those are FI's parents dogs. It was craziness trying to contain all three of them. I have a video of our chaos that if I can upload to photobucket or youtube or something I'll post as well. But I have to figure that out first.

There's this guy in Dallas who has done Santa at the big mall here for like 20 years, and he's totally legit. He teaches at UT Austin in the Spring, but his entire fall is devoted to being Santa. He even has a real beard.
Anyways, I read an article about him last year and he told the story about one of the craziest things he ever saw was a lady with 3 very well behaved dogs, and they all rearranged themselves and she moved them 100% by just talking to them. He said she never touched them, and they were better directed and behaved than most children.
  • Good Morning!

I can't remember if I have to be at work at 7:30 or 8:30 this morning.  I texted my boss, but she hasn't responded yet.  I don't want to get ready yet if I don't have to be there until 8:30.

A friend and I held a writing contest among our friends five years ago, and she emailed the entries to me last night so I could reread them.  I've been doing that so far all morning, and I'm realizing our friends are completely hilarious.
  • That's cute, cnf!  Here's Nala with Santa.  The Humane Society does a Santa Paws fundraiser every year.

  • We took ours to the spca sants paws fundraiser too. And the guy playing santa is one of our city officials that everyone loves. Hes been their santa for quite a few years now. The santa at bass pro last year had a real beard. But he also had a lazy eye and was kind of mean. Nala is adorable too.

We are building it, it hasn't even broken ground-next month is when that will happen and it takes about 2 and a half to 3 months to finish.

    Morning!

I'm in such a haze this morning. I'm going to need multiple cups of coffee to get through this day. It doesn't help that it's foggy and rainy here too. Driving to work this morning felt a little dangerous because I was so tired.

I'm jealous of everyone's dogs with Santa pictures! So cute! I look forward to the day we can do that too. Fingers crossed it will be next year sometime.

Painting your new house is fun for the first couple rooms... then after that you get a little tired of it. At least we did. We've had to paint every single room in our new home. Only the kitchen and dining room is left, plus we need to paint all the trim in the whole house. We had gusto in the beginning but that enthusiasm for painting is a bit less now.

  • Just saw your Hipster Party photo, Swag. Looks like a great time!

H and I love themed parties. We're going to have one for our joint bday party in January. Our birthdays are one day apart, but I'm a year older than him. We always celebrate our bday's together. It's a lot of fun.

lol - nope. Not clueless, and I wouldn't have believed it myself until I moved up here.

We have one phone provider up here (land lines that is), and there isn't enough fiber op here to support the boom in the community. They're laying another cable now and have a testing period coming up, so it will be a few more months before the town gets any more bandwidth.

as of now, even here at school, if we have an entire class working online, the rest of the school is supposed to log off the internet to facilitate them getting work done.

  • Morning, ladies! It is most definitely a Monday.  I knocked over my water glass on my nightstand this morning trying to turn off my alarm and spilled water on my ipad and phone (thankfully all seems to be working) and then I ran into the corner of our dresser with my hip bone.  Now, I have a huge ugly bruise. Blah.

I had a great weekend though!  I finished up all Christmas shopping and now I don't know what to do with myself ha ha.  Also, we took our holiday card photo on Saturday night and it was a lot of fun!  I put our camera on a tripod, got a wireless remote for it, and set up a little photo shoot in the backyard.  H and I had a blast doing it.  I think he had a good time seeing me excited about something because I've been kind of down lately.  It was pretty great =).

B2Z, painting trim is the worst!  Ugh I hate it!  We've painted and repainted so many rooms in our house it's ridiculous.  I think we've finally settled on a good living room/kitchen and master bedroom color.  I know we will be repainting our guest bedrooms though...

  • Shay that photo is great! I love it because it's not your typical, "let's stand in front of our tree/fireplace" photo. It will make a wonderful card.

I don't mind painting trim all that much. I like that I can sit down on the floor to do it. The worst part is probably the taping off the top and bottom of the baseboards. We don't have any crown molding to worry about. The actual painting part goes pretty quickly. H hates it though.

If he hurt her it would not be on purpose, he's just a big goof all paws and tongue. Plus, if SD puts her down upstairs Atticus barks if he hears noises upstairs. So, it's just simplier to send him off, plus we are leaving town to visit H's mom 3 hours away for the weekend.

Atti learned how to push the buttons on the washer/dryer, just to hear the music, thats my goofball.
