Snarky Brides

Who was your....

So I feel like I am in dress overload.  I am going back out tomorrow to look again and the store I am going to has like a million different designers.  I feel like I know nothing about these designers and I am a big researcher.  What was/is your dress designer and what is the price range of the dresses they sell (if you don't mind telling me)

Re: Who was your....

  • Oleg Casini I think most of his dresses are under $1K.
  • I got mine off the sales rack of DB for $250.  It was a no-name, so I'm no help.

How did your dress shopping go at the boutique and DB?

  • My dress was from DB for $649.

  • Jim Hjelm. He usually does kind of romantic, form fitting, lacy/satin numbers.
I wanted a very simple understated dress that still was classy and elegant, so I loved everything by him I tried on.

I am pretty sure he runs 3k/4k to unlimited if you get it designed personally by him which a bride I worked with did.
  • Found mine at www.weddingdressfantasy.com though I won't see it for another 10 weeks.  They have great reviews (found them on the L.A. board) and I just love the fact that they will do any dress in any color.  Told FI he needs to win a big , important award so I have an excuse to buy another dress from them.  Wink

Oh, and they had to customize my dress due to my being vertically challenged (5'1") and the fact I wanted something not-strapless so the total cost was $734.

  • Tide-DB was really awesome the lady was super nice and made me feel so pretty.
Here is the dress I liked.

    Tomorrow is the boutique

  • I got mine at David's too.  It was $350.  Problem is, when looking for it online to show a friend, I found another one I like and dress-doubt has officially hit me.
  • Mine is Galina Signature from DB. I think they are all under $1k.

Pronovias.  The prices vary, but mine was $1,170 without alterations.  If the dress is more elaborate, I'm sure that it's much more.

  • Mine is Maggie Sottero, in the Destination collection.  It is about $1700, and I think the range for that designer is roughly $1000 - $3000.

  • Ummm... David's Bridal? I don't know if there was a specific designer. It was $400, we got it for $350 on sale.

  • mine is private label by g...it was about $500. But, it isn't a wedding dress technically...it is from their 'special occasions' line, which means it is a prom dress! I didn't know that when I bought it (they neglected to mention it) but I didn't care, I like the dress.
  • number, I just looked at your bio and I love your venue! I kinda want to vacation there.
  • :) Thanks! I love it too...it is pretty much exactly what we wanted...a golf club setting but the barn feel. I am hoping that the weather will cooperate so we can do photos outside...

There was another barn I really wanted, that allowed for catering and bringing in your own alcohol, but it was booked for 6 months beyond the date we had hoped for and it wasn't worth the wait.
  • Thanks girls...
Numbers that looks like a wedding dress to me.

  • believe it or not, Jessica McClintock and it was $215 total, including shipping.

  • Mine was Christian Michele, and it was just under $1K.

  • I'm torn between an Allure and a Mori Lee, but I've only tried on dresses once.  Alfred Angelo also had a couple I'd like to look at again.  We're going again Monday.

The prices for Mori Lee are all over. I think the one I like is 800 something.  Allure's vary too, but most are under 1k.  AA had a lot less than 1k, but have some higher than that.

I started out looking at Pronovias and Maggie Sottero, which tend to be a bit higher but I didn't like them as much as the others.

    GL!

Blue by Enzoani. Dress was Caldera, and it was $1698? Canadian, and without tax. I think they're all around the 1k-2k range, but I couldn't tell you for sure as the site doesn't have prices.

I tried on Caldera... it was so pretty.  I loved how the front of the skirt was tiered.  It was just too much train for me and our beach wedding. Can't wait to see how it looks for yours!

Yeah, I loved it on the website, and while trying it on it did feel like a TON of dress, the sample was a size 10 and I'm a size 4. So I'm hoping the skirt isn't as bulky on my actual dress, but I still love it.
  • One of the ones I like that i want to try on from enzoaini is Alaura.  I will look at yours now.

I'm sure it will be gorgeous!

Alaura is stunning!  The fabric of the skirt is really flattering.

  • Yeah, I love the skirt on that one too.
  • Mine was a Vineyard (line from Priscilla of Boston).  At Kleinfeld, it was $1,500 before alterations.

I really like that dress you tried on, Jamie!  It's so flattering.

  • DB one but I don't know the designer. It was discontinued so I got it off the rack for $250.
  • Jamie, I think you look so amazing in the dress you posted. My dress was Ines di Santo, I got it at a sample sale. I shopped by myself and was determined to find an amazing dress for a good deal. I scouted out sample sales for 6 months. It retailed for $3600 but I got it 70% off, which put it right in my budget. Other brands I loved that were under $1500: Watters, Allure and Pronovias.

  • Marisa at a local boutique.  I don't know how much they run on average but mine was originally priced at $3,000.
