GBU - I wrote this about a month ago and never finished it. Instead of waiting forever for me to finish, I'm just going to post it. Sorry ladies!!
So, I am going to do this as a good and annoying. I’d prefer not to look back at anything as bad or ugly, and I don’t think anything ruined the trip. In fact looking back, I already am laughing at everything that I felt were bad at the time. So in place of bad/ugly I will use the term annoying.
Good/great:
- Pretty much everything! I had so much fun the entire time. There was lots of booze, good food, and dancing. Everyone had such a great time.
- I feel so fortunate that my close friends were able to come down to Mexico a whole week before the wedding. I really was able to completely relax and adjust to Mexico time before everyone arrived. J
- The weather was a bit rainy for the end of the ceremony but I had so much fun getting ready with the girls that I didn’t even have a chance to realize the weather was crappy out. J I actually think the rain was perfect. Sure it meant we couldn’t get all the photos on the beach, but it made it about 10 degrees cooler out. Also, the sunset was so gorgeous due to the clouds.
Annoying:
- We all went out on Wednesday evening to the clubs/bars in downtown PV. One of DH’s friends was doing some drugs in the bathroom (classy), and the police became involved. DH ended up having to use our money to bribe the cops so that this friend wouldn’t end up in jail. Oh, and we all got kicked out of the club. Awesome. Also, it was the tip money for our wedding day so this was a bit annoying because I wasn’t sure we would ever see it again. Luckily we got it back in time for the wedding… otherwise Bridezilla would have come out.
- I was so stressed about my family being in the same room together that I kept getting bloody noses. My bridesmaids were so sweet and started carrying lots of kleenex for me, haha. (My mom didn’t want us to get married in Mexico because she thought my dad would get someone to murder her. My brother threatened a restraining order against her. Etc etc. You get the point… nasty divorce.)
- We had guests staying at two different locations - I got so tired of walking back and forth. I felt like 2-3 days were wasted trying to spend time with everything, and splitting times between locations and families.
- Apparently I can’t handle being a bride/center of attention. I told my BMs that I couldn’t do a first dance by myself and insisted the whole wedding party dance too. They didn’t realize how serious I was until everyone was supposed to start dancing, and I realized it was just DH and I… I couldn’t breathe and started freaking out. I pushed DH away and almost had to run out of the room. I had no idea I get so freaked out! Luckily, the wedding party starting dancing together after that and it all worked out.
Funny:
- My dad kept trying to hook my bridesmaids up with my brothers. He would walk up to one and be like have “You look really nice tonight, have you met my son yet? You two would look very good together. He’s the attractive one in the corner there.” I have 4 brothers and a step brother… so he was like if you don’t like xx, I have a few backups for you. This went on and on and on. At first it freaked us all out, but then we found it pretty hilarious. Clearly my dad was wasted. I never thought I’d see my dad trying to be match maker with my friends/brothers. Oh… turns out he was a decent matchmaker. There may have been a couple make outs.
- I’ve been debating if this goes in Funny or Annoying. At the time, I was a little annoyed, but now I enjoy laughing at DH. We did our bachelor/bachelorette parties in Mexico on Thursday. Let me just brag for a minute and say the first set of the guys left the club at like 1:30-2am. I’m proud to say us girls lasted until at least 5 am. Anyways, I went back to our hotel room and DH was puking everywhere. I refused to deal with it, so I made one of his groomsmen go sleep in the room with him. Anyways, the next day I went back to our room and DH was showered and ready to go. I was impressed he was up and ready… then I saw he had cuts and bruises everywhere. He had a nasty sprained ankle. I’ve been taking photos of it as the week went on, and it’s still nasty looking. Apparently he fell down a flight of stairs and off a bar stool a few times. Anyways, no cuts/bruises on his face, so I definitely enjoy laughing at all this now.
