Flowerman Update~

I received a response tonight from Flowerman finally. I wanted to post it since I know some other Knotties out there have had issues contacting them as well. Still no proposal though. Thank you for those that recommended Kelly Karsten though, I am meeting with her this week. Hopefully then I will have a proposal from FM and be able to decide.

Hi, Kelly!

I am so sorry that you are still waiting on your quote.  I should have emailed or called to let you know the situation and why your quote is taking extra-long so you wouldn't be worried.  The DIY portion of your quote has been completely finished for quite some time, but I am still waiting to hear back from our head designer regarding the designer pricing you requested.  We have a team of 5 - 6 ladies on the design team, but only the head designer takes care of the pricing info and quotes for all of The Flowerman's stores.  She just gave birth to her first baby, so all of our proposals needing designer pricing got backed up the past couple of weeks.  I finally gave up on trying to reach her by phone since we were just playing phone tag back and forth and emailed her your quote, asking her to price your items and return it as soon as she possibly could.  I'm thinking it shouldn't be later than tomorrow or the next day.  I'll forward the proposal on to you as soon as I receive it.  Again, I'm so very sorry for the delay.  We started a new system for receiving designer pricing this week which should work much better/faster with her new schedule, but unfortunately your quote fell right in the time that we were "in limbo."   Again, I apologize so much for the huge gap in our correspondence.  I will be in touch within the next day or two with your final quote.  :)

Best,

Oh my.... even if you save a bit of money (unless it is substantial) this just sounds like a headache. I just wanted to add that I had one more final meeting with Kelly at my reception venue last weekend in preparation for my wedding on the 28th, and she is very accomodating. She recommended adding a few things in replacement of a centerpiece (because our final guest count we didn't need as many centerpieces, we are DIYing candles on 1/2 the tables and she is doing floral on the other half) and when all was said and done my new total was $10 more. I had already mailed her the final check, so she said not to worry about the $10. That impressed me. I will probably give her a nice tip the day of, well, as long as everything turns out as promised :)

Hold on....the same person from the Flowerman sent me the EXACT e-mail last night WORD for WORD because I have been waiting a week and a half now for a quote! All I have to say is....I think they have known for some time that this baby is coming so something should have been set up! I am soooo glad to know that I am not the ONLY one! This is now definitely making me rethink a lot....

Wow, yes I got it last night at like 10pm. I totally was thinking the same thing about the baby, you think they would have mentioned that at the consultation. How long ago did you have yours?

I just had my final meeting with Kelly Karsten.  She responded as soon as I contacted her.  We made some adjustments to some of the flowers and the price didn't change.
After reading all this about the Flowerman, I am so happy I made my decision to go with Kelly.I spent the same amount, fell like I got more for it, and she has been very nice and accomodating.

I got one like this too, but on 3/17:

Thank you so much for your patience as I typed out your wedding order! I apologize that it's taken me a bit longer than expected to get this proposal over to you. Our head designer just had her first baby two weeks ago, so she's obviously been out of the office and a bit difficult to connect with. I was able to get the designer pricing from her for all of your bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages, but she had to cut our conversation short to tend to the baby and I haven't been able to connect with her again since.

I then asked about the centerpiece info, and didn't hear back until 4/14:

I am SO VERY sorry that you did not receive a response from me regarding the designer pricing for your centerpieces. I really apologize. To be honest, I just got your voicemail message this afternoon. I'm not sure how it happened, but somehow your message was "skipped" without being listened to. I didn't even know that skipping a message was an option! Our mailbox filled up so I had to go through it today and delete some of the saved messages. When I got to the end it said, "First skipped message," and there was your message all alone. It was very surprising. :( Again, I'm very sorry to have kept you waiting.

She did seem very sorry and offered me a 20% discount, but by then I'd already chosen another florist (All in Bloom).  The DIY vs non-DIY wasn't that big of a price difference anyway.

    Good luck!!!

    Hi, Ladies!

This is Melissa with The Flowerman.  I'm glad you were all able to find florists that could help you for your wedding.  :)  We were SO SWAMPED from February through April.  So many of the ladies on our design team have had babies recently, including our head designer, which was rough on the correspondence.  I had a really, really hard time connecting with them and then keeping up with all of the emailing in between.  I really apologize that you were frustrated with the lack of correspondence.  I've since hired an assistant, as has our head designer, so things in the email/pricing/proposal department have improved dramatically.  I hope you loved your weddings, and that they were everything you wanted them to be!  Thanks so much for considering The Flowerman, and I wish you all the best!  :)
