Choosing MOH with a Difficult Friend - Please help!

I have two very good friends from college and cannot decide which one should be my MOH.  Well, that's not exactly the case.  I know which one I would like to be my MOH (A), but it may cause a melt-down from the other friend (B).  Ultimately, it comes down to this:  I can tell friend A anything and we are always there for each other though we don't hang out as often since we don't live near each other.  Friend B and I hang out a lot and are very good friends, but she does not open up at all and act like a normal BF.  I basically have already told friend A that I would like her to be my MOH, but she has even come back to me and said that she would understand if I needed to make friend B MOH so as to not cause that melt-down.  I know the answer is that Friend B needs to grow up and I should make Friend A my MOH - but I need help to know this is what I should do and how to handle the fall-out from Friend B!

If you are really concerned, why not name them both MOH?

  • I agree with xoxob.  But, I just looked at your bio, and it looks like you have a little over a year.  Why don't you just wait a couple more months and see where things go?  You don't need to ask BMs until between 6-9 months-ish, and that relationship may change between now and a few months from now.  Especially if you're just graduating college or moving or starting new jobs, a lot can change in a few months, and the problem may resolve itself.
  • Friend A knows the situation and seems to understand seeing how she made that comment to you about "if you need to make her MOH."  Make them Co-MOHs so B is happy but A will know where she stands.

  • I would probably just make A MOH and let B deal with it. Then again, I probably wouldn't have someone like B as a best friend (from how you've described her being reserved and immature) and would see any melt-down as another example of why A was my true best friend.
  • Interesting!  I never though to not have a MOH at all.  That is actually kind of great!
